OK, I'll kick this one off. Bruce did his work in the offseason, and we have a squad that seems to be built to shore up our aging superstar Stevie G. The annual CCL nightmare of playing a competitive game, against a team in the midst of their domestic season, with a squad that's still trying to find their way to the stadium. Go Galaxy! http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/...aguna-concacaf-champions-league-match-preview
Santos are in a bad run of form right now. We're still gonna get whacked. Lambs to the slaughter. But hey, at least the season is beginning!
Let’s be honest, worst case scenario, we have to play 3 Liga MX teams over 6 games (no CCL final has happened without a Mexican team). We might beat one, but two back to back? Even Montreal’s miracle season they only faced 2 Liga MX teams and didn’t beat either one; RSL only faced one, in the final and lost. Best case scenario we have to face a Seattle team who just dismantled us 4-0 at home and 3-2 in the previous meeting. Throw in the shitty officiating that almost cost Montreal their miracle run and you basically need the Galaxy to play the best soccer in their history, hell the best soccer in the history of MLS, over the course of 6 games. Oh and do it with a starting 11 that’s basically played 2 games together.
The soccer gods tend to be unforgiving. I am doing what I can by going through and deleting all the spam mails I get from LAFC. I figure that has to be worth some good karma.
The game with Seattle was a great wake up call for the new guys. I can see the galaxy winning this one and then getting a result on the road. I am still not convinced that Gerrard is the guy for this team....hopefully I am wrong.
We all understand the that form and fitness is in Santos' favor. But that's on paper. We have experienced players that know what it is like to get a result in these types of games. Wednesday Bruce and the boys could come in with strong focus and play well enough to get a good result, and carry some momentum go to Torreon next week. When we played TJ last time, we went down there with the advantage, but played a terrible 35 minutes in the first half. With a better 2nd half we still managed to get within one goal of advancing. Santos' form has not been great lately, maybe we can take advantage of that. I will be there Wednesday to cheer on the boys. GO GALAXY!!!!
Im loving herc's inside scoop on CCL.. Mainly how we are our worst enemy....We let the mexican sides dictate the game, we panic and bunker instead of implimenting our style of play on them for 90+ mins...its not about them being levels above us on the field .. Its us panicking like headlesss chickens once they place one behind the net.... Either way Galaxy till i die!
In Spain on business or pleasure? And if the answer is "pleasure," don't expect a whole lot of sympathy here.
We might be in bad form but we have (for the most part) the same squad that won a title last year. We have a lot of young quality, should be fun.
