Does anyone know if away goals are used as a tie breaker in the CCC? (I know that I could try to look it up, but that would take effort). If so, how would it work when you play 2 away games? Since the first match has been designated home for Alajuelense, how about this scenario: the Revs manage to grind out a 0-0 draw in the first match. So in the second match, knowing that it’s an “away” game, Alajuelense play for a 1-1 draw, in their HOME stadium, knowing that they’ll go through on the AWAY goals rule (or are tickets to the 2nd match only going to be sold to people traveling down from NE?).

Would this not seem odd to people who care about fair competition among the rulers of CONCACAF? Do such people exist there? Admittedly the Revs chose such an arrangement, but if there are people who are in charge of making sure that the spirit of competition is respected, it should seem disagreeable to them.

The very least that they could do (and this would rank very highly in the history of least things that were ever done), would be to switch it so that the first game was the Revs’ home match. It probably wouldn’t make much of a difference, but then at least if there’s a draw in the first match, especially a scoreless draw, you wouldn’t have the actual home team playing for a draw of a slightly higher score in the second match.

I doubt that they'd be too inclined to try and aid the team that sells it's home match to its opponent...

I believe the tie-breaker is away goals. Chances are this won't be an issue (when considering the competative disadvantage), but if both teams were equal on aggregate after the second-leg of this first-round series... no matter that the Revs would being playing their "home" match in Costa Rica, the Revs would advance to the second round.

I grant you, it's one scenario that both Revs and LDA supporters might find difficult to wrap their heads around.

Last year CONCACAF did not use away goals as a tie breaker. I think they go staight to pk's.
