You're looking at it completely backwards. If the FIRST card he gave out was for dissent (considering how high his bar was for stuff that he WASN'T carding), the LAST thing you should be doing is committing dissent. We can debate the whole "should referees have thicker skin or should they enforce the rule" until the cows come home. But if you have a referee who's already pulled the trigger on dissent once, get smart.
“We just played a game and we’re talking about Cucho. We don’t play tennis. We play football. I don’t wanna talk about that. Next question.” - Nancy when asked about an update on Cucho Hernandez #Crew96— Massive Report (@MassiveReport) April 3, 2024
I'm with Nancy on this. We just played an international match, where they fought their hearts out, and got some (real or perceived) questionable officiating, and someone's asking a question about a guy who wasn't on the field? I'd be a little short, too. It might be frustrating as fans to not know every little detail, but they haven't told us by now, so they're probably not going to tell us, and they're definitely not going to tell us five minutes after that match ended.
Asking about Cucho has a lot to do with the match, I’m getting worried that he might be finished with the club
Not liking these Nancy - Cucho vibes. I understand the necessity of discipline and to be consistent with the whole roster but at the end of the day were not talking about children's sports and instilling positive values and virtues and the like. We need Cuchos angry vibes unleashed on Tigres damnit. There's a trophy on the line and that's what we're all here for....
I think Nancy made it a much bigger deal then it should have been by being cryptic about it. If he just said cucho violated team rules and will be out indefinitely we'd all move on
Well cucho has not unfollowed the crew and still has them in his bio. In the social media world that's a good sign
Thanks for that additional info. On the Apple TV broadcast, if I remember correctly, they did not show anything other than him walking off the pitch in disgust, and the commentator said something like, Cucho is not happy with being taken out of the match.
But, but, my sister's, hairstylist read on Truth social that Cucho broke the lease on his apartment and carried the boxes himself onto a moving van today at 11:22am.
I know I can’t speak for all Crew fans, but I’m like 96% sure that when we said “Columbus till I die” we meant from natural causes.— Morgan Hughes (@Morgan_Hughes) April 2, 2024
It sucks that we won't have Morris Tuesday, because the Crew were absolutely the better team tonight, and we deserved a better result. Had we picked off another goal and won this thing, I would have liked our chances to win this thing. Now, it's a tough ask. Certainly not impossible. All we need is one goal, and we know how to score. But I'd have much rather had that cushion than not had it.
This quote is more promising. I look forward to seeing the actual presser. Not sure why our beat reporters have contrasting quotes There is no denying that the No. 1 topic regarding #Crew96 is Cucho’s absence. So, I asked Wilfried Nancy if there is any update or timeline for the current situation. Here’s his full response: pic.twitter.com/pUrf1uVymY— Brianna Mac Kay (@brimackay15) April 3, 2024
I want to see the Venn Diagram of "people who think Nancy's an asshole for not telling us what's going on with Cucho" and "people who think Berhalter's an asshole for telling us what went on with Gio Reyna."
This is why I don’t care about this tournament or anything else CONCACAF puts on. Is MLS still behind Lg Mex? Probably. But we can’t ever get a fair shake in these games to get a true answer.
I don’t think anyone called Ggg an asshole for speaking truth. I think people called him an assholenforbhow he handled the situation I think a T Chart would be more appropriate than a Venn Diagram
I disagree, respectfully but completely. The media isn't there to make the coach (or the team) feel all warm and fuzzy about the match that just ended; the media is there to find out what is going on and communicate it to the paying customers. I give Nancy credit for trying to be as diplomatic and respectful as possible. Using the game as an excuse not to answer the question (a question it seems he has been told not to answer) is a simplistic tactic to avoid it. I am surprised and pleased somebody actually asked a hard question. It's probably too much to hope the coach would actually answer it. But Nancy knows as well as we do that when a team goes all hard-nosed like this, something is seriously amiss. Maybe whoever created this clusterfutz can find a way to fix it. Wouldn't that be nice?
