That's be nice for those of us who haven't completely cut the cord (but I'm getting closer!). But I wouldn't hold my breath about seeing more footy on the linear channels. My gut says that they'll do more like what NBC has been doing with EPL... more and more games on Peacock. Presumably to force more and more streaming subscribers. But I'd love to be wrong!
As someone who: 1) Recognizes HBO as one of the strongest brands of TV 2) Gets HBO Max via an internet plan I'm really really hoping HBO Max is kept, but I'm seeing various articles that seem to suggest we should all prepare to use Paramount+ as HBO Max will probably not exist by December 2027. https://awfulannouncing.com/streaming/hbo-max-shutdown-2027-moffettnathanson-paramount-wbd.html If I can save further money by downgrading my internet plan, I'd definitely consider it.
Is it just me or are the UCL highlights and UCL Today post-game show taking longer before they become available to watch on Paramount+? Checked at 10:30p ET last night and still nothing available. It was at least 11pm ET last matchday too. Didn't check when these shows finally became available, because if you can't watch it the same day as the matches, its pointless. The postgame show is great when you didn't have time to watch the CL matches that day.
My old man Paramount complaint is that the audio for their Serie A game highlight packages is like 5x as loud as the audio for the replays and live matches, so every time I click on one of those I feel like the guy in those old Maxell ads. One good thing though was that apparently they forgot to insert commercials into the replays of yesterday's UCL matches.
Yeah, I'm not going to say the cable TV era was better overall (it wasn't), but a lot of the streaming era's shortcomings is just sloppy or lazy stuff that can be easily rectified to make the streaming era better than the cable TV era on all fronts. Which, of course, just makes those shortcomings more annoying.
I'm not so sure. Between the delay and needing two TVs to watch MLS (Apple) and EPL (Peacock) or needing to take close to a minute to flip back and forth between different apps, give me MLS Direct Kick on one channel and EPL on another. At least then we didn't need two screens side by side. Plus we didn't need to wait on someone to upload the game to the archives. We instantly had it on our hard drives in our TV rooms. The big downside then was paying for 90+ channels we didn't need, even though it was probably a similar price.
When do EPL and MLS really play at the same time? Maybe every once in a while now on Saturdays with the new late 3PM Eastern EPL window (which isn't every week) against the odd afternoon MLS game, but that's a rarity.
By the way if you want to quick-switch while streaming, use two devices and toggle between them as fast as your TV's input switcher will let you, which is way faster than changing apps (or even games in the same app)
True, but I could have said the same about any European leagues that play in overlapping windows. Every time I switch away from Chromecast, it seems to go back to the home screen.
I'm sure there's some option via....somehow...to allow Paramount+ to run on the same screen at the same time as Peacock. Whether or not it's legal is another story.
CBS Sports Network really did go with the Bayern vs Atalanta leg 2 instead of the Liverpool vs Galatasaray leg 2. One of those series is absolutely not in doubt.
Subscriptions vs ratings. Then again, you'd think most people who subscribe to Paramount+ would have yearly subscriptions.
CBSSN doesn't get ratings. It's so low on the totem pole that CBS doesn't even pay Nielsen to track it.
Another channel disappearance means more complaints about why the bills don't go down. (The answer? Because people are paying $2-4/mo for most channels and the bills go up in the year leading up to channels disappearing. Idiots don't seem to understand that. They just think they should pay less when channels disappear, whether permanently or temporarily.)
Paramount+ has their premium plan now for $2.99/mo for two months. The offer ends 3/31. No code needed.
My sub is up 4/7 and once I’m back home from travels I plan to call them for “best deal” like I’ve always done. In past I got 50% then 30%. Does anybody know if we can still get any discounts like that anymore??
I think they went for that match because it involved a Serie A team. The league they have rights too.
Retiring CBSSN would make sense given the merger between CBS and Turner. https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2026/04/paramount-wbd-berson-espn-nfl-tnt-sports-fab-five-michigan/ They could probably move a lot of that stuff to the merged HBO Max and Paramount+ or to TruTV. I might be tempted to convert TruTV into 24/7 sports talk and altcasts of live sports while keeping TNT and TBS as they are while keeping an exception for TruTV's March Madness live games. There is no reason for TruTV to have the same exact coverage as TNT and TBS other than having stuff on two channels makes it easier to find.
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/14Z2Pb5dw7v/ Paramount+ is the new home of UFC! Pay just $0.99/mo. for the first 2 months and stream every UFC fight live. Offer ends 6/30/2026. Monthly plans only. After first 2 months, auto-renews at the then-current full price of your plan (presently, plans start at $8.99/mo) unless cancelled. Taxes may apply. 18+. T&Cs apply. You can also use the promo code BASKET for two months of SportsLine for free. Sign up with SportsLine on/before 4/28 and get two months free, then use the above promo for two more months for $2. Four months for $2 with at least two of those months being the "full" Paramount+ isn't a bad deal.
I'd pay $5 extra a month for the tier that gives you the world feed instead of the one with Tony Meola
