How much do I have to worry about screen burn-in from the static background on the Multicast (older 720P TV set)?
Unless your TV is plasma, CRT or OLED, it's not worth worrying about. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_burn-in
I watched yesterday's Madrid-Arsenal match in a pub, where the audio wasn't really working. So I missed all the CBS studio stuff (pre/HT/post). It sure would be nice if P+ made that whole package available for replay. Seems it would be the easiest thing to do for them (least amount of post-production), and they might even get more ad $'s. Instead they edit the match replay from KO, no HT coverage, and just a few mins after FT. Yes they do ofter the post-game show, or at least part of it, and an interviews packages. But I'd love to hear what Thierry Henry said before/during the match as well.
It’s a nice plus for people like my brother who don’t have P+. Do you happen to know if CBS is gonna continue broadcasting the remaining SF games all the way through the final?
Hopefully these games continue to be on P+. I don't mind the occasional weather overlay, but if they break away, I'm going to P+ on the phone.
I had to do that Tuesday when the idiots at our local CBS station were "storm chasing" a minor outbreak of small hail in a small front that moved through in less than 30 minutes.
Obviously they have the FCC requirement to report the bad weather, etc. I get it. In some cases, I'm sure a lot of it is "well, the other guys broke in to regular programming". I totally understand tornado warnings, but hail? Gheez. What's fun is that my provider (U-Verse) will sometimes do a whiparound channel of local weather during hurricanes. It's so much better than the regular Weather Channel or whatever 24-hr news channel since they're obviously in those cities full-time. I just wish they'd keep the pop-up channels on longer, but they seem to turn it off as soon as the worst passes. At least the apps make these things less of an issue than they used to be. If something is on NBC, Peacock Premium Plus with a proxy can easily get you another NBC affiliate, which I've done once or twice. It's a shame they can't run the regular programming on a subchannel, but then someone would probably complain about "some dumb soccer game taking over my Matlock" or whatever.
Especially hail in Lubbock. We get grapefruit and softball sized hail once a year. The stuff falling the other day was closer to those old round candies with the little band around them that you could get in vending machines (Bleeps I think). Small, ineffectual, and they aired coverage for 10 minutes after the storm passed.
The other issue is that is obviously not just your (or my) area, but the whole wide-ass viewing area. It can be "threatening but fine" in my area and 40 miles away, all hell can be breaking loose. So yeah, they gotta break in.
Except it wasn't anywhere around here on Tuesday. The Lubbock viewing area is about 200 sq miles, if not more. We legitimately get reports on Clovis, NM that is a full 100 miles away.
Coppa Italia TV schedule Wednesday, May 14 03:00 PM ET AC Milan vs. Bologna (Italian Coppa Italia) Paramount+
I've noticed over the last couple of weeks that they haven't been inserting commercials into match replays for those of us on the ad-supported plan.
Maybe this is more than a theory, but I can't 100% verify it: Someone is paying $X/mo for them to serve commercials. They're receiving advertiser money plus subscription money...they're getting richer off the ad-supported plans than they are off the ad-free plans. Cancel your plan then you should start getting discount codes for ad-free Paramount+. If not, sign up via SportsLine.com as I did. Obviously wait until your P+ ends. I paid for a year of Sportsline at $35 and got two months free. They then gave me two more months free. Once this expires, I have a code for 60% off for a year. Do I watch Showtime? Not really. Is it nice to have no ads plus more content for $35 or whatever for an entire year? Darn right. The other option is to see if you can pay your regular TV provider for Showtime. If you can, you'll get Paramount+.
Is there a possibility that any CL matches would not be on P+? For the reasons/examples you've mentioned, I would certainly hope/assume all CL matches will be on P+, especially the final. That was my understanding when I subscribed (although, tbf, even if the price was $15/month, I'd still probably pay)
If a game was on CBS Sports Network, I can understand why they wouldn't want to put it on P+, but don't they just show the whiparound show...and isn't that also on Golazo? Or does CBS Sports Network just show their regular programming? There's probably an outside chance a game wouldn't be on P+ because it'd push people to their CBS affiliates. Peacock Premium Plus was supposed to have early access to the late night shows, but the affiliates complained and it never happened.
The contract is all matches for the three UEFA club tournaments (not counting some of the preliminary rounds) on Paramount+. Anything on linear channels is additional.
CBS/Paramount+ will have the UEFA Women's Champions League. https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/ne...ts-and-paramount-beginning-in-2025-26-season/
If you sign up for Sportsline using code "basketball" it's $39.99/yr and includes Paramount+ with no commercials in the archives plus Showtime. ...at least this what I see. YMMV. I just went to cancel and that's two MORE months free. I think I've now paid $35 for 18 months. FWIW, the two months were from the end of my term, NOT two months from when I canceled. It's essentially regular price for three months and then 15 months free by this point. Should I expect two more months to go from August to October? Ha!
https://frontofficesports.com/nfl-watching-closely-as-paramount-ownership-drama-unfolds/ I'm not saying this is why I haven't paid for Paramount+ since Feb 2024 or whenever it was, but it's definitely possible.
