Paramount+ has finally gone through and deleted the hundreds of games from previous tournaments. Now, they seem to keep 20 games for each tournament.
That's something I've noticed with other streamers too, which is a big shame. Seems to me that one of the key advantages of the new digital world is the ability to easily store & provide huge archives of past matches. But for some reason they think it's best to (arbitrarily?) cull these archives fairly quickly. Why? Strikes me as decidedly un-customer-friendly.
Could some of it be rights issues with the owners? If, for example, CONCACAF ran some tournament, maybe they don't want Paramount+ having games from 2017. What I don't get is when someone (say Max) owns the stuff outright, doesn't show it and it's not on anything else. Sometimes it's better to spend the $10 on eBay for the physical copy.
My local CBS channel is now showing the Serie A Pre-Match for 30 minutes before the kickoff of Parma vs Milan.
I'm not seeing the option to watch from the beginning on EFL games yet, but it just reappeared in the Paramount+ app on Google TV and Roku for Serie A matches. It may have been temporarily gone for some reason, possibly a redesign.
360k tuned in to CBS for Parma v AC Milan. https://worldsoccertalk.com/amp/tv/cbs-pulls-broadcast-viewership-of-360000-for-serie-a-game/
Para+ just sucks for live soccer. No pause/RR/FF so I can’t sync with an alternate audio stream. Not that it would matter anyway as running it on my Xfinity X1 the games constantly buffer. Laptop, too. Anyone else experiencing the constant buffering when on a TV or laptop? It’s not my box because Peacock streams flawlessly. As does ESPN+. Also, the Nav menu takes forever and a day to move from one icon to the next. Have to get on screen five minutes before your event starts. Thank god I don’t have to pay again when my sub ends in September. oh, and big shout out to them for completely botching Qarabag/Dinamo yesterday. Wrong time listed at first, where it was listed as live it was retuned with errors all throughout the first half. Thx, Jay!
I agree that live streams that don't have the ability to pause/rwd/ffd are just deficient. And it's not only P+ that does this... some other streaming apps do this as well, but honestly I can't name which ones right now. There are so many that it's just hard to keep straight who does what. And your problems with buffering and laggy menus? Without a ton of thought, that sounds more like something on your end (your Internet/wifi) rather than rooted with the streamer/platform. But that's just a guess. FWIW, P+ for me has been one of the more reliable streamers I think. But what you're experiencing I would just chalk up to the inherent nature of the new world of digital streaming. It's just fundamentally less easy & reliable, compared to the traditional TV platform(s) we've used for decades. Still waiting for streaming to get beyond those deficiencies, do the basic stuff as well as TV & DVR's have done, and then kick butt with what only streaming can provide, e.g. massive availability of simultaneous games on a virtually infinite number of "channels".
It’s a hardwired box to the Xfinity X1 device. Peacock, MAX, Hulu, Netflix, when we had it, Britbox all no problems. P+, especially live, is wank. I can’t recall watching TV shows with difficulty. But only watched a handful of episodes and they weren’t live. Thx, Jay!
I just did a brief check and it seems SportsLine no longer offers Paramount+ with their subscriptions, per the SportsLine app. (The SlickDeals app says it does work at something like $10 less than doing the below option.) However, apparently code FALL50 works for new and ex-subscribers, per the SlickDeals app. Paramount+ Essential $29.99 Paramount+ with SHOWTIME $59.99 (also doesn't include commercials in the archives.)
I'm on their Limited Commercials plan at $35/yr (50% off). Not too shabby I guess. I've been able to get 50% off by renewing over the phone. Which is why I asked the question in the NBC thread about whether anyone's ever had similar luck over the phone getting a cheap (annual?) deal on Peacock Premium?
Paramount+ Essential is free via Walmart+ and Paramount+ with Showtime is 50% off for the annual deal ($64.99).
Can anyone explain the logic to me: Out of all the matches they can show they choose to broadcast Sporting vs. Lille on CBS Sports Network? Does not really make much sense to me.
I'm still not sure why CBSSN exists. It's not counted in the TV ratings, it's not available through any version of Paramount+, and it's not even carried on that many services.
It is good for American College Football coverage. It is also the best place for College basketball highlights, info and prognostications during the NCAA Tournament.
I like it, I just don't get what CBS is doing with it. On several cable/satellite systems it's only on the most expensive tier. One of my favorite things about YouTube TV is that it's on their main tier and not stuck on some Sports Extra package. Again, they don't pay Nielsen to be listed in the ratings each day. It's not available in any version of Paramount+. It's just a really weirdly placed channel.
This is new: On Paramount+, when the game (not broadcast) ends, they put a side-by-side up asking if you want to watch one of their TV shows. I can see why they do it, but it's totally unnecessary.
I think this is the first time I've been able to watch the CBSSN game as an individual broadcast on Paramount+. Previously it was in the whiparound show, but not by itself.
Paramount's new "Start from Beginning" option isn't a very good one because unless you finish the game within 15-20 minutes after it ends, the feed disappears in mid-view and then you have to wait a while for the replay, my current situation with an EFL match.
Totally agree. And they’re not the only streamer who does this. One of the many things that worked better w/ DVR’s that hopefully some day they will realize. In both senses of that word.
ESPN has no issues with completing paused live games or those started from the beginning while they're underway.
ESPN routinely forgets to start feeds and, in the case of the Bundesliga, has had entire weeks where none of the broadcasts were done right. Late last season they forgot to turn on the feeds for 5 Bundesliga games until halftime. They routinely screw up college sports and NHL streams as well.
I just started Cardiff-Leeds on Paramount+ and watching on delay (on demand). It looks like the original broadcast was on Golazo, which I have never watched before. I have watched every Leeds game and every League Cup game this season and never saw the idiotic ticker until now. As I have posted on these threads for nearly 20 years, it's 2 steps forward and 1 step back with football coverage in the US. There seems to be no understanding of TV viewing in this country by execs. The kids are watching on their phones and could care less about image size. The old folks are watching on TVs because they want a big or bigger screen experience. A news crawl junks up the image and cuts into the image size.
