Herdsman itching to play, vs. old team or otherwise Umm, this was obviously written before the news of Herdsman going down with some knee injury yesterday in the stadium at practice. For his sake I hope it is nothing too bad...we could use him in the back four right now. In other news :: A 34 midfielder from Poland? Hmm, so what do people know about this guy? I don't know a thing about him but he is 34 years old, hell that would make him the second oldest guy on the team behind Fraser, not sure I like the idea of a 34 year old midfielder but what do I know.
I don't like the sound of a 34 year old Polish midfielder at all. But, I do like this... New Zealand’s Simon Elliott has been approved for a green card, and once he signs the papers only Duncan Oughton of New Zealand will be considered a foreigner. He also has applied for a card.
Grzegorz Wedzynski has spent the last several years playing in Israel. He was with Maccabi Tel Aviv for most of that time but more recently he's been with Ironi Rishon-Lezion which I think is second division.
This is interesting stuff from Walt at Bill's homepage, CSN.... http://www.cybersoccernews.com/mls/crew/040625crew-rapadv.shtml In camp this week is another player on trial. The player is Grzegorz Wedzynski, a midfielder from Poland, who has spent most of the last three plus seasons in Israel. While it is not clear where he stands on the pecking order, it is clear that Crew assistant coach Robert Warzycha has been given the task of identifying potential future players.
*Sigh* Give us your old, your weak, yee of tired bones and ending careers. Find haven and solice in Columbus, the sanctuary of the invalid.
With all the talk about using an allocation before Smith leaves, I'm lead to believe that we're either taking this French guy or we're picking up somebody that we don't know about and that probably hasn't trained with the Crew. I'm a little worried about this. I mean, shouldn't an allocation be used on somebody who is going to light a fire in the middle and turn this into an offensive juggernaut? I have my doubts, for sure. Hopefully whoever it is will come in and prove my doubts wrong. Then again, the Mutts wasted their big allocation on that Argentine/Colombian striker who's done fcuk all for them. I'm not sure if that is comforting, but just worth mentioning.
Wiseass Yeah, for sure, we need to be scouring the Israeli Second Division for 34 year old Polish guys. Pardon me while I struggle to repress my enthusiasm.
did sanneh's contract situation ever get worked out? Not really a position we need another person at but... am I the only person on the planet that will cry if one of our allocations isn't a forward?
from all accounts i heard the french guy played well while he was here on trial, it is a matter of whether he'll stay healthy that is the big question if we were to sign him up...
No. A 34 year old second division midfielder?? The only reason (and I mean the ONLY reason) I could ever possibly be happy is if he has a wicked left boot and could possibly displace Denton. However, a 34 year old second division midfielder?? Crikes, the next person we'll be looking at is an alcoholic Iranian footballer that has been dead for 20 years.
Have you ever met an alcoholic Iranian? I thought alcohol was outlawed in their country? You know, since I thought booze was forbidden by Alah.
Herzog is 34, I believe, so there a small chance that we could find a productive player, but this Polish guy just doesn't sound good to me. We're supposed to have two big allocations, and these guys (Gourvennec, kaiclicachevski) don't appear to be worth either of them. My question is, who the heck plays in Israel?
I agree, considering these are highly valued allocations, it's really a waste of that value to get these guys. Maybe the rest becomes a retirement bonus for Smith when he leaves?
