The Crew’s missive is clear: It must win next Sunday at D.C. and at home Oct. 26 vs. Chicago, and D.C. must lose its last game at home Oct. 25 against Kansas City. If that happens, both teams will have 38 points, but the Crew would qualify based on winning the season series over D.C. 2-1-1. And of course there's the obligatory Greggy P quote: "There’s no question we’re totally with our backs against the wall," If you really WERE "up against a wall" Greg, I bet I could find plenty of volunteers to hold the rifles. http://www.1460thefan.com/tf.php?story=dispatch/2003/10/12/20031012-D16-01.html
And I think our boy Craig needs to invest in some "word power" tapes or maybe just find a decent editor: Crew does not have a "missive". Perhaps they have a "mission" but that's a little different. As for the scenario, it seems to me that it may come down to how hard KC wants to play vs. how badly they want to rest some guys when they may have nothing whatsoever at stake in the final game. The same will be true of Chitcago; they could just not show up for these last two games and would still top the division.
I think you're right. Maybe CB-Craig is trying to take a page from Dennis Miller's book. However, CB-Craig didn't bother to at least learn what the word meant before using it. BTW, for those people like CB-Craig and myself who don't know what missive means: 1. That which is sent; a writing containing a message. 2. One who is sent; a messenger. [Obs.] --Shak.
They're locked in a 50-pt tie with San Jose for Supporter's Shield. We're hoping Colorado gives them some trouble because, well, you won't. SJ has to beat down the Gals twice, we think that's doable to take the Shield. In the magnanimous gestures tradition, here's hoping you get a new coach and a rebuilt team sooner than later. DougO
What's really sad is the fan base that's been squandered...but you wouldn't know anything about that.
Re: Re: Re: CB Craig: Looking For A Miracle No, but I don't think this season would be complete without one more heartbreak, so I see the boys getting the neccessary result against DC and it coming down to the last 10 minutes against Chicago.
