If you haven't checked these guys out, pick up Antenna, their new CD. They consciously wrote shorter, pop songs and the outcome is awesome. Like almost every other Cave In CD, it expands on their previous work to create something different. Here's an article from the Globe: http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/080/living/A_new_label+.shtml Anyone in Boston, if you buy the CD at Newbury Comics, you get a free ticket to the show with them and Piebald tomorrow night at the Avalon.
I need to listen to it again, but I'm disappointed. It's way wimpy. The musicianship is good, but I'm just not into it compared to older stuff.
Re: Re: Cave In Compared to like Beyond Hypothermia/Until Your Heart Stops type stuff? They haven't really been doing that for 3 or 4 years now. From Creative Eclipses on, though, this CD fits right in.
a lot of people describe cave in as hardcore, i just call it crap, i've never liked a single song i've heard. and i feel safe judging 'hardcore' since i listen to it religiously.
What kind of bands do you listen to? I'm just wondering because I come from a hardcore background (be it the early 80s stuff, or the Vision of Disorder/Strife/Hatebreed stuff from the mid 90s) and love Cave In. I wouldn't refer to them as hardcore though. They are a rock band. I try not to get caught up too much in the label game For any Cave In fans out there, I went to the concert tonight, and the new stuff sounds even better live. It has a rawer edge and everything is real, real loud!
Uh, lets see.....i'm way into youth crew stuff, so anything like floorpunch, ten yard fight, youth of today, champion, fastbreak, etc. thrash: scholastic deth, rambo, charles bronson, in control, ************ on the beach, spazz metal(core): seven angels seven plagues, isis, pelican, red chord, etc....... and big into any tough guy/straightedge stuff like terror, the promise, hatebreed, etc... that's just a few.
