Nice write-up in today's Kansas City Star on how tough its been to be a Wizards fan with the team in limbo. "Wizards fan Andy Mead has started pricing flights to Dallas. Mead, who grew up in Leawood and now lives in North Carolina, was at the Wizards’ first game, a 3-0 victory against the Colorado Rapids at Arrowhead Stadium on April 13, 1996. He wonders whether this week’s game at FC Dallas will be the last time anyone will see the Kansas City Wizards play....." http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/12855099.htm
Saw that, thought Andy summed up how many of us feel very well. And Drum'r Boy, that's cool, we were planning on wearing blue anyways.
What section is the Cauldron going to be in for this game? Somebody said 131 a page or two ago, has this been confirmed?
A couple notes on the game: 1) The field we're playing on is costing the Inferno guys $90. Bring a couple bucks to help pay for this. 2) Wear blue. The HASF shirts, a Wizards jersey, etc. 3) This is a noon kickoff. Be there before that to warm up. Since we're new to the area I'd suggest trying to get there between 11:00-11:15am. This way everyone will be there in plenty of time and we can warm up and discuss the lineup.
So, any chance we can pass the hat and help defray some of the cost of plane ticket to get me to the game? Right now the cheapest fares are in the $450 range. I'm hoping some airline will make it a weekend "saver" fare.
What, you mean we shouldn't show up a little after noon, then spend 45 minutes getting ready and chatting before actually playing?
Well, I'm telling my people to be there by 11:30. If you guys want to short-staff your team, fine by us.
I've been asked by the Dallas fans if we can have a "no slide tackle" rule. I for one don't care and since I'm a forward it'll save my legs a bit. But on the other hand I don't mind if people slide tackle as it's part of the game. What do you guys think?
Let me explain a bit - we're doing this for fun mostly. Sure, we want to win, but we'd rather have fun with friends, make new ones and have a beer. Oh, and our team is going to be mostly supporters, not some group from our competitive rec teams..... Our co-ed league plays with this rule and it makes the game safer for everyone. I'd hate for someone to blow a knee Saturday afternoon....
Our team is mostly guys that play once a week in our kick around. I don't know, but I doubt there'll be more than 3-5 of us that have played seriously in our lives.
yeah, since kopite won't be there, I think a no-slide-tackle rule is just fine. I think it's in his nature that he has to have one slide tackle every week.
Just as long as I can still hit someone in the face with the ball at point-blank range!!! edit: I don't know who it was, but while I was making sure jason was okay, someone gathered the ball and took a shot at the open goal.....and sent it wide.....LOL
You have to actually get the ball first. And I can talk all the smack I want since I'm not able to make the game.
LOL, hey, unless Jason got a black eye from it he has nothing to complain about. Take one of Mark's shots on goal in the eye then talk to me.
i dont see any marks, but speaking of mark ive taken a few of his tackles also and it was two balls to the face yesterday for me.
