ok whens the latest i can confirm? because it's not like i could go by myslef. i'm only 15. my twin, parents, friend and her family would probably go too. so were possibly looking at 8 or 9 of us going. just tell me when the dead line is because you did say you were doing this early. thanks!
Just talk with your parents and decide if you all want to go. I can't give you a firm date, but I'd say sometime by the middle of August you're going to have to know if you're going.
F you all! I'm going to start working with Mark to see about this kick around. There's obviously some logistics issues. Let me talk with him, and then I'll get some details/options back to the group. What I don't want to see happen is people not get to go because we want to leave too early (whether it be Friday or reallly early Saturday morning). This trip is first and foremost to go to the Wizards games. The kickaround with them would be great, but I don't want to lose any travellers because of it. BUMP and more people need to sign up for this! Sam: Got a list of who "everyone" is from your post?
way cool to see so many of you coming down for the game, you guys were always very hospitable and fun at the USOC game last year, and the 5 or so of us who came up for the game earlier in the season. Make sure to come to the tailgate(obviously!) and if there is a kickaround, youre all goin down!
Agreed agreed agreed. The kickaround is a "if we can pull it off" kind of a thing. We'll make do. Hell, even if we have to help fill out your roster (like, if you have seven or eight who want to play, etc.) bcause you go in two groups (which might not be a bad idea...) that isn't a problem. We're completely flexible on all of this.
alright. so i need some information on this trip because it sounds like a blast and i would love to go and sit with you guys. just some questions: 1. how much would it cost alltogether for 1 person 2. where would we actually get on the bus 3. where will we be staying thanks again!
I don't think much of that has been decided. Also I do not know if we are taking a bus or not, I think the idea is just being thrown around at the moment.
Cost: I don't have an exact number, but it's safe to assume $20 for a ticket and $120 per night for a hotel. If you're in a hotel room with three other people (your family in your case), then it's split up. Normally people are travelling on their own, so if you're just staying one night you can plan on $20+$30+gas money. Bus: Looking less likely. I think this is best because it will allow some people to go down Friday. Which I know there is interest in. Hotel: We're staying at the team hotel, or at least that's the plan. I have to make that call tomorrow.
Anyone interested in leaving Thursday and having a kick around in the Hunt Sports Group parking lot on Friday? Talk about making a statement about local support for the wizards...a few of us actually showing up in Hunts parking lot and popping in the office to say high may prove a point. I wasn't going to make the trip as I have never even sat with the cauldron, but in light of the news coming out I think it would be worth it now just to se my buddy Lamar.
not trying to troll here, i very much understand your pain on this one, but it wont mean a thing to walk into our front office. I doubt Lamar is even in there and its just in a random office building right now. The offices wont move into the new stadium until next season. But that is a good idea.
Yeah....what he said. We're going on this trip to support the Wizards and see the new stadium. And possibly play a kick around with a bunch of Dallas fans. And what the hell would HSG care about us showing support for the Wizards? What do they need to be convinced of at this point? They put us on sale. The only thing I need from them at this point is to sell to a local buyer. Other than that, well and the Chiefs , they are dead to me.
BUMP New info coming soon. I'm working on tickets and hotel as we speak. Because this roadtrip is going to be BIGGER, with help from the FO, the way I'm doing it is going to be a bit different. This time around I'm going to get a section set up for us, and you'll be responsible for calling to reserve a seat. There will be a deadline date in which you have to order by. After that date they will open up the section to be sold to other fans. I'll also find a hotel, have them block rooms off, and people will have to call and get their own room. With the anticipation of a larger group, plus an email going out to all Wizards fans at some point, I can't predict the size of our group and don't want a $5000 credit card bill I have to worry about paying off! Again, look for info in the next week.
This is actually a very cool thing that they do - both for visiting fans and for us in The Inferno - it allows us to grow as much as possible, but they don't lose out on selling tickets. The one thing I would get in writing (as in, send them a letter stating this with language to the effect of, "This is to memorialize that . . . . Please advise me if that is not your understanding.") that you guys are going to be active supporters - standing, chanting, confetti, flags, drums. (We do all those things without a problem - you shouldn't have a problem, either.) What section are they talking about putting you in? It should be one of the South End sections, but as far away from us within that area (we're in 116 - maybe 119 would work for you guys). I say this because there are some sections that are full of folk who are local Frisco-ites - they are still getting used to the idea of active supporters even being in their stadium, and aren't ready to have 50 folk right next to them.... Being in 119 (cheapest seats, still in the South End, but as far away from us as possible with those same conditions) would allow us both to do the voodoo that we do, allow us to enjoy the competition between us, and not pis$ off too many of those not ready to deal with "our kind." Basically, my suggestion is to talk about this in detail, and once you get everything set, fax up or mail a letter to the effect of memorializing the conversation.
Don't worry, I'm all over it. And they're talking about section 131 for us. Nothing is set yet though.
That is one of the sections that might be infested with soccer moms and Frisco-ites who are not up with the noise, the standing, etc. If you want to have any fun, PLEASE make sure that issue is THOROUGHLY addressed. If you have the numbers you're talking about, you're going to make quite a rucus - which would be great, btw. You need to KNOW that the FO is going to back you up if someone complains to the event staff or the cops.
This is one of the sections that wasn't sold at all for the opener....depending on how the continuing construction goes this may or may not be open for that game.
The section is now set aside for us. I've discussed, and will continue to discuss this with the FCD FO. They know we're coming and I've explained my concerns with them regarding the home fans and security. I'll put all the info up tomorrow or early next week on how to order tickets and what hotels we're staying at. I'm going to work on hotel deals similar to the ticket deal I worked out.
Cool. Best of luck. (That letter of memorialziation has worked for me in various difficult venues, including Columbus, Colorado and KC. The times we didn't use it, we usually ran into problems.... I'm just sayin'.)
Rock on! I'm moving to Tulsa sometime in September, so I can guarantee my son and I are going to be there. Heck, I might even get my wife to come this time! Just tell us what time the kickaround is and I'm there for that as well.
