God that was Awful…!!! Got to concede that one to ‘castle they kept their cool when all around people were losing their’s
What a dour miserable match though in the hog waller, neither team were any bloody good. Just one deflected goal in it but on the whole it was deserved.
And what the hell is going on with Liverpool and referees lately, that guy was absolutely the worst I’ve seen for a long while. I think his plan was to card everyone in a red shirt.
I don’t have a problem with either of Diao’s cards, he was out of control but the others, Ha! Has anybody ever seen Henchoz get upset like that before.???

    “Breath into the bag Ken”

The one bright spark was Mellor, the kid has promise. (Especially the way he went after the ref! )
Damn, I am so mad right now.

Got to admire Shearer, the consummate pro. He really got under Riise’s skin.

In the league table, the lads are level with Chelscum in 3rd place with a game in hand, and just a win behind ManUre.

Who would have thunk that this would be the midfield lineup that would give us the rare victory over the Scousers!

Big kudos to Kerr for playing a smart, mostly error-free game. Never a major scoring or penetrative threat, but he held and moved the ball very well and never seemed to be caught too far forward.

Bellamy was absolutely fantastic, especially in the first 30+ minutes. Really showed how much we'll miss him in when Champions' League play resumes.

Also enjoyed the play of Given. Even in sloggy conditions he was solid, held the ball on every shot and punched/cleared well... and only once did he put the ball out of bounds, doing so only after keeping it from going out for a corner.

The defense did well overall, but mostly they've got an inept Liverpool offense and the slick conditions to thank. Baros should have scored at least one, and while Elliot and Griffin did quite well against Diouf, I still maintain that we need to pick up a top (central) defender sometime this month. Hughes is a dependable player but not dominant, and Bernard is too shaky. He often gets caught overlapping into the offense, which wouldn't be so bad if he didn't give the ball away so often on the attack.

Finally, another classy performance by Shearer, only a few feet away from his 16th tally of the season, clear of any problems with the ref and controlling his ball with his back to goal like few in the world can.

    Howay the lads!
