Enghardt, the playmaker, is out on yellow-card suspension for KSC...and basically KSC is not the kind of side that can have any key players out (and play well)..

I'm rooting for a miracle here, which I consider 2 goals (in remaining time) for the win...

KSC has been consistently inconsistent all season, so should be no surprise that they are struggling to make the big leap today (a win, which would put them square in fight for a promotion spot, a loss- and they are clearly re-emphasizing middle table rep)

Ticker saying that KSC is having a hard time w/good Bielefeld team defense, and are only dangerous on set pieces...

    Calling for a miracle...calling for a miracle...

Connor ties it up on the 68'!

C'mon boys (Connor)...one more goal for Connor and its his first Kicker TEAM OF WEEK! (haha). Actually, good shot at player of week if he can do it.

KSC needs a win, not a tie here...

Does Casey really have two goals? Let's go!

yes and both with his head

Yup, tied for 6th now on goal-scoring charts...

Ticker said that after the 2nd goal, instead of playing conservative, Karlsruhe kept attacking....Monday-morning quarterbacking would certainly question that strategy.

Final whistle any minute, but certainly if Connor has any hand (assist/shot) on a game winning goal, he's Kicker's Player of the Week, no doubt..

I think he'll make the team this week though...good for him!

KSC really need(ed) that 3 pts. though

A quick look at Kicker's scoring charts (and of course, they can change w/more games this weekend):

All the 5 scorers who have more goals than Connor are AT LEAST 3 years older than Connor....so we/Connor should feel quite good about his season so far....only more experienced guys have been more efficient so far, and Connor is still learning of course (and doubtful he's peaked as a player)...

In comparision, McBride still hadn't started MLS- and mostly was a bust (few goals) w/Wolfsburg during his D2 stint...

Crap...apparently Connor had another goal disallowed for a "foul" (ticker doesn't say on whom)...

Casey was the one called for the foul in the first half.

Also, he had a late chance for a hat trick denied.

Es hätte der Abend von Conor Casey werden können, der als doppelter Torschütze auftrat und dem ein Treffer aberkannt wurde. Im Kampf um den Anschluss an die Aufstiegsplätze ist keinem Team gedient.

Did you catch that line from Kicker? "It coulda been the night of Connor Casey, 2 goals and 1 denied"..

Damn, he was Player of Week man...snatched from the grasp!

I'm almost positive the third goal that was "aberkannt" refers to the one in the first half called back for a foul rather than a late chance.

Great showing by Connor! Maybe Clive Charles knew a thing or two after all...

    Yep, right!

Nope, first by head. Second one he wins a heading duel against Bielefeld defender Lense (actually Lense wins the duell 25 meters in front of the goal but his header hits Conor with the ball falling into Casey's way) and scores with his right foot.

Btw, as it seems that Borussia Dortmund has to sell some players at the end of the season it may be possible that Koller will be sold and Sammer orders Casey back to the Strobelallee....just my thoughts.

Yup, the size of Dortmund's debt could be the real "break" Connor needs to make the BL (for real, this time).

Thanks, and don't be a stranger...keep us up-to-date on the Dortmund scuttlebutt!

Well, as I think that we should use the European guys for the Poland friendly at the end of March (because of its proximity to the beginning of the MLS season), I hope that Conor gets called into the camp. It would be good for him as a young up and comer.

I agree. Cripes, if Wolyniec gets capped and Noonan gets called into camp, surely Casey ought to at least get called into camp. It's great that he seems to be scoring regularly. I always thought that he was well-suited to the German game -- strong in the air, quick, and a big boy who is not afraid of physical play. And although everyone was calling for Clive's head for playing him over Donovan in the Olympics, I thought he had a terrific game against the Czech Republic.

Dont compare those two, ever please. I would hope Connor gets a callup, but then again, I would hope that Buddle does too. Actually, there are a whole lot of guys Id hope get called in. Bruce does what Bruce feels like.

The way I read this, the chance referred to here is the earlier goal that was called back.

I remember some folks noting that Casey mostly scored against lower table sides. This looks like a good performamce against a good side. Congrats Conor! And he is only 22.

  25. Conor is Bielefeld's bogeyman. His goal in the last match of last season condemed Bielefeld to the BL2 drop.
