Apparently conor casey has hurt his knee again, they are assuming it is the same type of injury as last time, and if so, he'll be out most likely the rest of the season.
here too http://www.hannover96.de/index_start.html in case you can't read german, it says he had to come out of the game, because of an injury to his knee. knie=knee Verletzung=injury
I hope this isn't a sign that Casey's injury prone. He's too good of a talent for the Nats and Hannover/Dortmund to be experiencing this unlucky streak.I really hope it's not serious and he can get back to action soon.
Yes? The version on Hannover's homepage reads less dramatic, excerpts: Reds won 20-0 vs SpVgg Laatzen (D7)... Conor Casey had to be substituted with a knee injury... Only negative thing was that Conor Casey was out early (35). Together with the Brazilian Borba he had to go to team doc Wego Kregehr for a medical check. The 96-webteam doesn't have a diagnosis yet, but it shouldn't be a major injury for both of them... Conor scored one goal in his 35 minutes. Steven also played the first half, but didn't score.
According to kicker it’s a “capsule-injury in the right knee”. No further details, no saying about the length of a break.
They got a 30 player roster and play one game per week where max 14 players can get playing time. These midweek games are for the others and they are basically a good chance for them to show up. Additionally for the small team it's an attraction to host a Bundesliga team and they got quite a good income which usually is shared 50/50 between the two clubs - no bad income regarding the TV money problems.
Bundesliga.de says that Conor needs to have a training break, but he'll be back for the next game (Oct 19 against Bremen)
Casey is a big young horse -- not the type you'd think would be the next McFragile. Glad its just a slight knock.
I keep reading this type of stuff over and over and over on Bigsoccer as if avoiding injuries has something to do manliness or worthiness.
Yeah, don't you know that only wimps stop playing soccer when they have a life-threatening blood clot!
I can't for the life of me understand why either. I understand that some of the players on the roster need a run about every week or so, but to play a team that is so inferior - I can't see its value to 96. As I see it, the only thing that can happen is negative - injuries - and that's what happened to 2 players (including CC). 96 is better off having an intra-squad scrimmage than playing such an inferior squad. Makes no sense to me at all. You don't see this in any other sport, do you?
no sh!t, good point, an injury is an injury, teams have expert medical staff, they, not the player determines an injury. casey couldn't have hung even the short amount of time he has in Germany if he wasn't a tough player and played through knocks.
