Took a quick look at goalscoring tables in Kicker...figuring, at 5 goals, Casey having an average, maybe mediocre season, all things considered.

I think, though, one would have to upgrade that assesment to good on the following basis:

Casey is tied for 11th in goalscoring in league...however one player (ironically the leader Copado, is a midfielder). I'm going to venture that one other player is also a mid- so that would put Casey tied for 9th. About like Karlsruhe "table" position- smack in middle.

However, interesting, Connor is about the youngest player in the top 20 or so. There are 2 other players ahead of him in goalscoring (Schied, Silva) that are within 1 year of Connor's age- but the rest (ahead of him- of 10 players) are aged between 26-30. I'm willing to suggest that with 3 add'l years experience, Connor could at least improve his goalscoring by a 1 or 2 goals on average. So, I think he is doing as well (with age consideration) as those guys. So, age-wise, Connor appears to be tied for 3 or 4th best striker (so far) for his age in BL2

So, in conclusion, although I had hoped to see Connor a bit further up in the table, all things considered (read: age...and really the entire team is young- he is new to them...explains a lot really about their mediocrity)...Connor is doing well. OK, so maybe he not blowing the doors off yet, but I'd think SOME BL club (if not Dortmund) would be looking favorably on his play to date. If he and colleagues can come together 2nd half, and Connor can get to 13-15 BL goals in total....I'd think he'd be (or remain) on the top young striker prospects in BL1/BL2...and pretty much on track for a starting position in BL within a couple years. Next year, if he can make one step up in quality, he'll be right there. Here's hoping for some improvement 2nd half.....and it wouldn't be a bad idea to start early (last couple games before break)

That's a pretty young team that Casey plays for. Are all the teams in B2 so young?

No, but Olafgb would know better...I believe they are one of the youngest, if not the youngest...surely, that has to factor into any valid assessment of the situation...we all saw how Casey scored goals w/ease w/Hannover a couple years back (a 1st division team that happened to play in BL2)

I agree that Casey is doing well, but I think his main competition maybe Emmanuel Krontiris
who is currently on loan at Alemannia Aachen from Dortmund.

Krontiris is 5-9 160, so he may not be the same type of player as Casey who is 6-2 187, but Dortmund has room for just so many strikers.

Krontiris also has 5 goals for top of the table Alemannia Aachen.

OTOH Casey has scored 29% of Karlsruhe's 17 goals whereas Krontiris has scored a mere 19% of Alemannia Aachen's goals.
