No. He should be given a ticket for the next bus out of town. I can't comment on his quality as a player in general, but he has no place in LA or in MLS, I believe.
Hard to tell. This season is not the best way to analyze our players. We're basically learning the word "team" on the fly, and you can see we're finally starting to sort of resemble one. Too many trades. Too many new faces. To many games in a short period. Too much exposure for a team that hasn't done nothing. As for Pavon, I'd keep him at least another season and see what he does after this season. Don't know if it'll happen, but it's what I'd do.
i highly doubt it. pavon's contact was for a year with the option of three or four more at the end of this season. as i recall he is being paid very little this year, or at least very little that counts towards the cap. i can't imagine bravo recommending we exercise our option on him.
Pavon and Gordon couldn't beat a parked Winnebago in a relay race. Hopefully they'll both be gone next season.
Did you see how much better we got after Pavon got subbed for Cobi?! We need Pavon around to give bring us down, so that when we take him out, we'll feel rejuvenated and play like a good team.
I can't say he is a "bad player". But his style of play doesn't work here. He may be a god in Honduras, but he is way too slow, especially at his age, for the way most teams in MLS play. ESPECIALLY how the Galaxy play. If you watch him, he's used to having a bunch of his team-mates crowd the box with him. That's why he's always doing heel-flicks and letting a pass slide through him. He's expecting his teammates to be right there behind him. But that's not how the Galaxy play. That's not how MLS plays. Most teams would expect him to hold up the ball and fight it out, and then maybe dump it to Donovan.
i also read that the language issue was affecting him, and i dont know if it means anything but Beckham said he was one of the players he was looking foward of playing with
The only reason to keep him is to use him as a decoy. The others teams defenders will be busy guarding him like he's a forward because he appears to be in the position of a forward. Meanwhile, our "real" forwards (Landon and Martino and Klein) are wide open. It has worked up until now. Some people have mistaken our decoy as an actual forward.
The only time I've noticed the guy is when he is being subbed out....must be around the same time he removes his Harry Potter Invisibility cloak. I'll buy his plane ticket.

ohhhhh...THAT guy! I thought he was the groundskeeper out there fixing divots during the game...slowly stomping and tripping over loose grass!
It just came to me what the problem with Pavon is. I dont know why I didnt realize this before. Pavon performed wonderfully with Beckham that day. Yet, he just can't seem to connect with Donovan. It's got to be a language barrier. Beckham speaks the real stuff. You know, Spanish from Spain. But, Donovan speaks the chopped up Los Angeles version...aka "Spanglish". Pavon maybe doesnt know Spanglish and we are being too hard on him.
I've seen Donovan speak Spanish in an interview, he knows it pretty well. He didn't throw in any Spanglish words. I don't think language is the issue. I don't think any words were said between Beckham and Pavon right before those two crosses for goals against RBNY, so in most aspects language shouldn't even matter.
I really don't think this is a serious issue, but Donovan being from SoCal, his Spanish would probably be more similar to Pavon's Spanish because of the Central American influence here, rather than Beckham's Castilian Spanish.
Well, then we are back to Asma and tiredness being his problems. And, those are not as easily corrected as just learning a couple of new words. Kit vs. jersey, futbol vs. soccer, pitch vs. field, those things can be worked out in minutes. His Asma and fatigue, well.......awww...bye Pavon...I will miss you!
hopefully gone far away from the g's team ! some journos were basically creaming themselves because he made 2 goals of becks assists - but the fact is: more or less any other player could have done them aswell of those becks assists. he was just the lucky kid 2 in a game. otherwise he's been utter crap. he costs salary cap money - don't know how much, but that can be better invested in other players.
I read some where(I'm looking for a link), he makes $400,000. If it's true, I'm amazed. He's making the same as some of the guys playing in the PL, and he is slower than a turtle. Thats a nice retirement check for acting and dressing up as a soccer player. Of course he shouldn't be here next year, he shouldn't be here this year. He is slow, can't create chances, he stinks. His two goals in NY were %50 nice gives from Beckham and %50 luck. Use his money for somebody who actually plays soccer, not a decoy for a groundskeeper.
No, he makes something like 175,000. But that doesn't matter. However much he makes, he's been useless and I hope he doesn't return next season.
