I noticed the injury came after doing his infamous rabona.... with him and Falcao out it would be interesting to see what Reyes would do if we had Nov friendlies.

Mojica is basically done for the season. Futmob has him listed as an April return. Unless fabra is like a bat out of hell upon his return, we may have to stick with Deiver/Borja

Fabra - listed as January return. Could be fit for March friendlies??

Bacca should be ok by the holidays

Falcao? Not sure what his timetable is.

Mina - Hopefully he’ll be playing regularly starting November

Roca - February return. Hope we give other DMs (Lerma, GCs) some playing time in the meantime. I’m hoping that we move on from Roca. Barrios is the man but we do need to make sure we have cover.

I agree. I hope he can finish out his career on a club high just because it's deserving.

Good news: Lerma has been a solid starter playing well for Bournemouth for weeks. Izzy just got back to the starting line-up for BHA after WC post injury and his shot at goal (deflected) won the game last Sunday.

If we can only assign a DT to this process I would feel better!

I think Argie season kicks off around Feb, so Fabra should have some games under his belt prior to March intl duties. That being said, that is one nasty injury and killed his WC, so beyond the physical side of his rehab, I'm hoping mentally he's ok. Specially considering many of his Colombian buddies, Barrios, Cardona and Seba would all be gone and there may be a DT change which will have an impact on how he's used.

good point. Let me ask this. I don't watch enough of Borja/Deiver at the club level and from what i saw in person of Borja and what i have seen so far from Deiver is that at the NT level, they tend to play the LB role very safe and conservative. I didn't see any risky passes or anything out of the ordinary. It was as if they were playing a new position or filling in just for the day. Is that how they normally play LB or are they more of a bulldog.

basically trying to get a sense if either guy will grow further and get more confidence/comfort playing at the NT level or is this the best we will likely see from either option.

yikes - just realized this is the Carlos Bacca forum - i hope he returns to health as well =)

They definitely attack more with their clubs but personally I've never been impressed with Machado but maybe that's just me. Lot's of carro loco on that LB position and not particularly the best futbol IQ. The gap in quality from Fabra and even Mojica to these 2 is a lot and I don't see our search for the LB done. In fact, I would imagine a DT with more experience might experiment with a player that can play that LB position but not necessarily a LB defender. For example, I watched Juve vs ManU today (Champions League) and I forgot just how well Cuadrado can be dropping back to help on defense. Or a DT that may opt for a backbone of 3 in the back, with 3 strong CBs and 2 outside wingers that come back and form a line of 5 when we lose the ball.

Machado was very good at Millonarios, ironically never got called up. Now he's pretty awful, same as Helibelton. Cristian Borja supposedly is doing good in Mexico and I don't think he was awful in recent friendlies so if Fabra and Mojica are still injured I guess i'd go with him.

we already have Carlos Sanchez's replacement with Wilmar Barrios so its true that his injury shouldn't be a huge deal I agree. Fabra and Mojica's injuries are more worrying because we don't have replacements.

I just get irritated when I see consecutive injuries like that.

    Hot take:

If Morelos does not leave a good impression in these friendlies I still think Bacca will make the Copa instead of him.

Based on Quiroz looking to bring in younger players I'd think Borja is more likely. Bacca had a good game today, but he hasn't been playing much in a Villareal side that has been awful.
