    Here's additional proof that she was a still forward in 1995. Here's the starting lineup from the first Group Stage game of the 1995 World Cup vs China.

    Yes, I know she had CFS, which is exactly why I said "health and injuries caused her to lose a couple steps." The health issue I was referring to was ME/CFS.

    Here's a link to a page specifically talking about her position change being due to ME/CFS.

    "In the spring of 1991, Akers was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction (CFIDS) (now known as myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). She changed her diet, training schedule, and field position, but was never able to fully recover."

    She didn't change positions right away. She started transitioning into the midfield in 1996. She was a forward from 1985-1996.
