for all the barca fans how highly do u rate carles puyol as a CB? what makes him the CB that he is with his short stature?
Exactly...leadership, toughness, tenacity, passion, and a good bit of pace, agility, and technical skill to go with it. Still my favorite player on this team!
what i always say is puyol plays like someone with no skill. that type of player gives everything they have, they never give up, they fight, they love what they do. the difference is, puyol does have skill.
i also think Juve`s Cannavaro is in the same group of extra-quality defensive rocks that are short in stature. Both players despite thier stature are some of the most feared and most competitive defenders any striker can come against plus they possess great aerial prowess.
There is no one more reliable. Solid all around. I wish we could clone Puyol. Puyol-Puyol-Puyol-(left-footed)Puyol
Funny thing about Puyol...a fact they used to speak of often when he broke into the first team in 2000.... He was discovered while playing for the Barcelona Dragon (american) football team...and was taught to play defense.....he started as a right back and KLuivert once rated him in 2001 the next great thing because of his comanding overlapping runs.....Having seen this, it is still a little odd that he moved into center back given his tremendous ability to play the right back position.
De Boer was solid.......i still dont understand why they got rid of Coco..he was better than Sorin IMO
No.....it is true....thats why the NFL banned "Mexico" on the back of any Falcons jerseys this season. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/3832438 http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7504682 http://cbs.sportsline.com/print/nfl/story/8386138
http://www.fcbarcelona.com/eng/noticias/noticias/n05122202.shtml Team captain Carles Puyol, who has a cartilage problem in his left knee, is to have treatment over the Christmas break in order to return to training in January in peak condition. Club medical sources revealed today (Thursday) that Carles Puyol will undergo a number of local injections in the affected knee followed by a few days of rest. Doctors and the player himself have decided to take advantage of the week-long break before training resumes on 30th December ahead of the Spanish Cup match against Zamora on 4th January. Puyol's temporary absence is in addition to that of Rafa Márquez, who will be sidelined for 10 days due to a muscle strain.
this worries me a lot, cartilage is very important and if to thin then he could easly break his leg, but good thing he is getting it fixed and resting Rafa is important aswell, we are going to need these players at the best come chelski game
I'm concerned about the after effects of these injections. Will he be as mobile as before? Marquez will not return to training till Jan 2nd, perhaps Puyol should take an extra day or 2.
