I just regret that I became a fan of the sport too late to see him play during his career. The highlights do some justice, but then you lose the possibility of seeing some new creation.

Interested as to where one can find an entire listing of European Footballer of The Year rankings.

LIke the full list to see for example who was 8th in 1982, not just the winners.

Any help would be very appreciated!

People always tend to say that Platini is the best French footballer of all time. Personally, I'd argue that he and Zidane should share that distinction. The problem is that it is so difficult to compare the two. In Platini's heyday, a team's supporting cast raison d'etre was to make the talismanic playmaker's star shine brightly. Zidane is expected to doll out the fancy flicks and precision through balls, but he can chase, hassle, and harry with the best of them. Then there's the issue of how pace and physicality has become much more of a factor in the modern game. Would the vintage Platini of 1984 be able to hold his own in the physically taxing, sometimes tactically rigid world of contemporary European football? To my mind, that's definitely worth taking into consideration.
