He played 10 years in France before moving abroad. Sadly that wouldn't happen nowadays a player of his caliber staying in France for that long a time. A star French player wouldnt even come close to staying 10 years in France nowadays they're outta there quicker than before.

Yes indeed. Unfortunate for French football fans.

Though there was a difference back then in that Italy was closed to foreign players from 1966 to 1980 and England wasn`t an attractive league for non-British players, mostly because a foreigner had to live in England 6 months before he would be allowed to play there. That left Spain and Germany, but due to France`s bad standing in the football world from the early-60s to mid-70s, a player that was big in France didn`t mean that much.

yeah, back in those dark ages, it was very rare to see a french guy play in foreign leagues and some were even closed for foreigners like Italy.

Didier Six played in Germany at around the same time Platini went to Juve and Marc Berdoll was playing in Germany as well before that.

Didier Six went to Aston Villa in mid-late 80s I believe and I think he was first french guy to play in english prem league (but I could be wrong).

    About Platini:
This guy was incredible. Look at the ratio of goals/match played, that's amazing.

Platini's peak was in 1984 when he was the top scorer in Serie-A, 24 goals, and won the Euro Championship in 1984.
Zidane is actually better than Platini but I see no players who got as much talents as Platini or Zidane in Europe

I have wondered about this myself but always assumed Platini was better...

as much as I like Zidane. I dont think he eclipses Platini in terms of being a natural talent. I have a video that encompases Michel's whole career and you just get the feeling that he had magic feet. he could do everything so well, passing, dribbling, playmaking, and of course scoring. His freekicks made Beckham look like a schoolboy. they were laser guided into the corners.

a legend in every sense of the word.

I have never seen Raymond Kopa play but I have heard he was pretty decent :D
Happens that he played for SCO Angers before Reims and Real Madrid.

    Technical ability : Zidane

Vision of the game : Both are great even though i'd give a littlle edge to Platini

Best career : Zidane ( but Platini's era was different, he didn't have the luxury to have partners with foreign experience )

Goal machine : Platini, no contest here. Managing to be top scorer in Serie A 2 or 3 times not even being a forward is amazing.
In those times, the defense was rougher.

Who would i chose in my team : Zidane i think you're one of the greatest, but I'd rather have Platini.
