Curt Schilling vs Chuck Finley expect jd drew to be starting in this one, my question is whether or not matheny catches i think the cards are ok with eli putting the pads on, but then again, they kept the game in check early in game one via their defense pujols to matheny gunning out spiver and rolen making a great play at first (yeah, he was safe, but who is going to even make it that close but rolen and get the out called simply because it was amazing??)
I have a feeling La Russa will start Matheny and play it safe, can't expect to pick up a lot of runs on Shilling no matter what the line-up so at least tighten up the D in hopes to completely shut down Arizona's batts. Damn 3 o'clock start, I'm gonna have to follow this via the gamecast due to work!
This isn't related to game 2 of the playoffs, but it is a Cardinal-related story that some of you might like. My older brother (who essentially made sure I was a Cardinal fan myself) was in St. Louis on business during the last homestand of the regular season. His colleagues wanted to hit the casinos, but he hadn't been to Busch stadium since it still had astroturf, so he wanted to see the Cardinals. He went to the ticket booth and decided, what the hell, and asked for the best ticket they had left because he's been a Cardinal fan his whole life and this was his first chance in ages to watch someplace besides Wrigley or Milwaukee, etc... The woman at the ticket window asked him to wait. She walked away and whispered to a guy in the background. She came back and they chatted for a bit. Then a guy came back with a ticket. Its face value was something like $54 and it was for either behind home plate or behind the Cardinal dugout (I'm getting this story second hand from my mother, and unless the story is about illness, details aren't her strong point). He slides his credit card under the window and the woman slides it right back and says, "you're a guest of the St. Louis Cardinals. Enjoy the game." I thought that was way cool, myself. There aren't a lot of professional sports organizations that fans can be proud of, but the St. Louis Cardinals is one of them.
bottom of 7th, one out 8th man at bat, schilling on deck no one on they are checking finley's hand for a blister or something
Bottom of the 7th, Kline comes on to relieve Finley. Big props to Finley if this holds up, a big time performance.
rolen makes a great play at third knocks the ball down in the sun and then guns out the runner at first schilling is pulled for a pinch hitter
A little surprised to see Shilling coming off, heart of the Cards lineup coming up next inning while the Arizona's got nothing going on in the bottom of the 7th. Oops..spoke to soon..had nothing going on..
white in for klein great play by rolen to go into that like he should have LOL that was a pinch runner called out for interference... correct call, what a freaking idiot
Stuck at work, no streaming audio allowed as it eats up too much bandwith, this is a hell of a game too..according to lamecast, White is still pitching to Spivey, WTF
2 outs, runner on first rolen has a left shoulder injury and is going to the x-ray machine... nothing more than that currently
renteria leads offs with a single moved over on a sacrifice cairo gets a pinch hit single that scores edgar and cairo also moves to second on the throw 2-1 top of the 9th, one out... new pitcher coming, runner on second
You gotta be ************ing kidding me, I rush home from work to find it's not even on TV!! Unbelievable. That's what I get for living in C*bs territory.
