Cardinal Stadium field surface/size

Discussion in 'Chicago Fire' started by deus ex machina, Feb 5, 2003.

  1. why does mls list cardinal stadium as being 69 yards in width? that's the biggest crock of fecal matter since brian bates

it's 64, maybe 65 tops and i'm not even sure it's marked correctly. you can see from where the 10 yard hash marks are on the endline, square or near it with the penalty area

top it off with the crap safeplay/fieldturf/plastigrass surface and i bet it plays more like 50 yards wide

sf is 70 yards wide still or will renovations make it larger? either case, it's better than playing in NappyWonderLand and getting raped for rent and other expenses by a division iii college and a suburban city government. at least we'll make money in the new joint

my point really being, why does this league permit these craptacular fields? i can even understand us having to because we had no other option, but dallas is cursed with a similar field and now the metrostars. granted, i wouldn't give two turds if it was just them playing on the field, and then in that case give one to la so they all blow out their acls, but we'll have to beat thier sorry asses on them too and god knows how we've dealt with injury since forever

I mean, does anyone actually like fieldturf? playign on it for rec league games or training is one thing, but competitive matches? better than a dirt field, probably. but i'd have to place my bet on an average grass surface being better than any artifical one

sorry for the rambling. carry on

Do they list it at 69? That's a real stretch if they do. Where did you see it?
