I have a whole crazy conspiracy theory that I have realized is a whole crazy conspiracy theory. It went something like this: Are profits in the MLS shared? If so, the MLS as a whole would have an incentive in encouraging teams to be profitable or consume fewer of the MLS' own resources. But it makes no sense to neither single DC out nor will a crappier product make DC a profitable team. Unless the MLS has given up on the notion that DC will ever have a successful business plan due to the stadium issue. And they want the team to move to Baltimore. Because the MLS hates me and doesn't want me to be happy. I'm going to go buy Catcher in the Rye.
Possible. We can assume the league's pressure to get a stadium or relocate are due to the fact that one of the most successful teams in the league keeps costing the league money every year. Is that right? Does the league ONLY cover the salaries of the players and the club/owner covers everything else? Or does the league pay for more than player salaries? In the early days of the league, it sure seemed like the league paid for just about everything. Since then it appears clubs spring for a lot of things by themselves. I don't really know the answers to these questions, does anyone? But if we are costing the league any money, either through expenses or lost/anticipated revenues, they are going to pressure us to move with out a stadium. However, if Chang can show that we can improve our financial situation by staying well under the cap, does that buy us more time with the league?
DCU is going to pick up a couple more journeymen and/or sign people currently on trial. Wait out the labor dispute. See how far the current roster gets us. And maybe make a move during the summer transfer period. No doubt there will also be an increase in beer prices at RFK. I just might move to Stockholm.
Dang, DangSkippy, didn't your Mama or Grandmama learn you no english? It's not "y'alls." The proper usage is "all y'all"! (Y'all's is possessive-plural, btw.)
While in New Orleans, I was taught that "y'all" is singular and "y'alls" is plural. Having my English corrected in the Deep South was a humbling experience.
I was assuming he'd take a break after the season. He might even be covering the Cup as a journalist. As for playing for DC -- I'm pretty sure he's never uttered word one about it. ON the other hand, he has made it clear that he wants to play in the USA. Given that he's a rather urbane dude, I would think there are only a few places he'd go -- NY, LA, SJ and DC. NY and LA have DPs (and NY seems to have other players in their sights for the 2nd slot), and SJ plays in a high school stadium. So, I give DC decent odds of getting him.
Maybe we are saving room for a big signing this summer? Not DP but a good 300ish' midfielder? Pena I think is going to be asking for 200k maybe a tad' bit more. But I doubt more then that.
LOL Talk about slang from the past! Y'un... havent heard that in a while. What was that supposed to be? Young' just really slanged out? Like short for the southern term of youngin'/ young blood? LOL
Is that Southern or a Pittsburgh thing? I know PA has some very interesting constructions. Like all up and down I-81......... </rimshot>
Yinz, yins, yunz, yuns, or you'uns depending on the part of Southwestern PA yunz is in. As for DC United, they better redd up the roster or we're gonna be on a slippy road of despair n'at.
In the parts of the South I know "y'uns" is "you'uns" and it is the plural of "you." "Young'uns" is "young people." And who was the football coach who praised a rival coach by saying "He could beat your'uns with his'ns, or take your'uns and beat his'ns." Or words to that effect.
as Matt pointed out, there ain't no "of" in all y'all it all depends on what part of the South one is from how y'all is conjugated, but in SC, they learnt me that 1 person = y'all 2 people = y'all a bunch of similar people, a single group = y'all a gathering of different groups (small or large) of people, or if it just fits better rhythmically into the phrase you are saying for 2 people or more = all y'all in the South - this is a "trigger word" - as in - if you speak it, we'll pull the trigger, since you are obviously just a yankee and probably need kilt anyhow
