Well, I suppose we'll find out more of our final roster today.

Looks like potentially Ezra Hendrickson (Dallas Burn) and Ryan Suarez (LA) could be available in the waiver draft. I think either of those players could give us further experience and depth in the back where we will need it when Jose blows his knee again and Klein and Garcia are called into national team camp. Any takers?

  4. Waivers?

    Chris Brunt is gone...anyone else?

Well we only needed to cut two if I am correct. Brunt is gone and my guess is Barber will be too. I heard he struggled in florida. They played him mostly at mid, and reports when he was drafted said he was a Defender. So if they cut those two we are at our limit right? This is all speculation of course on Barber.

    Midwest, the real one.
I'm not sure all draftees are signed to a contract, so until they are, they don't count against cap or roster. We may have too many players in camp, but when we decide to sign them, we must have cap room and roster space. Look at Chicago: They have 19 draftees in camp, along with the rest of the team, yet no mile-long list of released players was reported.

I can't believe Ryan Suarez is gone from LA. We should snatch him if we can. He is one of the lowest paid MLS players too, so cap space shouldnt be a problem.

This guy was on the fringe of making the US team, (did have a poor showing though) and was also called and asked to come train with his native team in South America (Uruguay I think).

I think he got overconfident with the attention he got from that and then the trade shocked him from one team that was struggling, to a team with no moral in LA.

He just needs a chance in the right setting. I think we are it.

    Suarez

If Suarez is available I think we should definintely pick him up. Having watched him the few times that I have, I think of him as one of the better one v one defenders in the league. His ball winning is good and his pace isn't bad either. This guy should definitely catch on somewhere.

Looks like the draft is Thursday with MLSnet.com listing who's available for sure.

    For Defense:

Suarez would be good just for his relative youth and Bobs train of thought for coaching defense. He might develop him a little better than Jeffries did.

I wouldn't be opposed to Ezra either. He's getting on in years (31) but he's a good right back that is definitely one of the better offensively minded ones in the league. I can remember cringing when we played LA (their '01 MVP by the way) and you would see him take of going forward. He'd be like a 1 season buy only type thing as with Preki now hurt for a good portion of the season, Ezra in a traditional 4-4-2 is close to being the perfect guy to have in there. Certainly better than Zotinca or Conrad for overlaps and pace.

McCarty is a no. People might start calling us the Partridge Family team with his Danny Bonaducci look. Heck, we just got rid of our own Argentine Keith Partridge look a like late last season with Fabbro.

    Re: MLS List

I guess it was just a rumor all along.

Ezra wouldn't be bad to have around, although I would prefer Milton Reyes in that role, assuming he's fully recovered from his injury and he would be affordable.

  16. Final 24?

If this is our final 24, why did Gans say they were going to be looking at other players they were bringing in to Portugal? I get the feeling something is in the works. We never get any press releases about waivers, cuts etc.

it is not the final 24. Roster changes can still be made. We are now roster and cap complient. That is all. If the season were to start tomorrow we would be fine.

so we can still cut and add players at this point so long as future changes keep us under the cap and roster limits?

    Chris Brunt gone

I was polite and quiet when we traded away Eric and Cary. Not happy but I understand salery cap. Don't like it but the Chiefs have taught us well. Then Preki went out. We were in trouble. For many reasons Chris is a favorite of mine, one of many. I am very upset.
Kline and Nicki headed out to national team and possibly even Kerry. Will not get to play, just sit on the bench and keep them from playing for us. If Josh is well enough to be called up, he may get to play.
And while I am ranting, why has the appearances site on the web page not been updated since November. Its embarising.

Yeah, still it's preferable to lurkers who lack the whatever required to post. It's not like anyone needs a decoder ring to get what he or she is saying.

Review of an English text is never a bad idea. I hope that does not stop anyone from posting their thoughts.

So... outside of Brunt, who else is now missing from the roster?

Goode & Friedland have been gone for some time although I though Goode was still listed until recently.

Quill and Talley disappeared with the trade.

So I know I'm missing someone or two...

OK thankfully MLSnet hasn't updated yet it looks like three got dropped since the last Draft Day update to put us at 24.

    They are:
    Chris Brunt
    Talley Goode
    Ryan Barber

    grammer

I can teach grammer, but when I am that upset it is not my first concern.

  25. Suggestion

When and if you decide to teach it, make sure you spell it "grammar."
