    Answer: NO*

    *unless we're fighting Germany
*or if we sign someone, even then it's tenuous

Also, COYG (and agents and lawyers and scouts). Let's get something done.

God damn it, what's the hold up with the Gonzalo buy? Madrid have already named a manager.

I wonder if there's a delay for the tailored sleeping bag coat order to go thru?

Well, the years of speculation and no buys (last second or otherwise) would qualify as worse in my eyes. Especially since, in that window we snagged Arteta and the BFG in the final moments and bought Gervinho and Park when we had plenty of time to think about it.

I'd like Gonzalo to be done early. A big signing will help with convincing others to come...hopefully.

I'd like to start a pool on how long it takes before Higuain signs elsewhere.

Well it does seem that the Higuain deal is done. Not much chatter about Fellaini lately.

I just hope that Higuian is a done deal and that we are moving on to our other targets. We need as many players as possible signed by the time we start preseason.

I don't think we need to sign that many players. I would be thrilled with signing Higuain and Fellaini and keeping everyone else aside from the castoffs.

You might have a point here. I am a bit nervous when the English papers don't have at least 3-5 paragraphs devoted to this trade.

we NEED to sign players. we've let ~16 reserve/youth players and 3 seniors go and signed only a 15yo kid so far. assuming at least 3 more senior players go (take your pick from mannone, chamakh, bendtner, djourou, santos, park, fabianski) then we will definitely need to sign more than sanogo and higuain.

Don't be negative. This Higuain thing is too protracted, but i see no reason to see he'll go elsewhere.

I just don't want Rooney to come. He'd be a liability, and Tony Adams was right, his temperament is off.

    I see Arshavin has left.

Meh, had he maintained his 08/09 and 09/10 form he would have been almost legendary status.

Except most of them were loaned out/non existent already so it doesn't affect our depth

The youth players have to be replaced, and we can't go with, for example, one goalkeeper.

What about Higuain and Rooney? And lose Park, Bendtner, and Chamakh...

    I don't want Rooney.

I really don't want Rooney for Rooney wages.

But I think the point is actually well-taken. With Denilson, Arshavin, Bendtner and others coming off the books, we might as well dedicate that money to more bodies- the depth is good-ish now, but I'd like to see us get even deeper.

Two regular starters (Higuain, Fellaini), a decent center back and a backup goalie and I think we'd have one of the most solid sqauds in years, and WITHOUT the 2-3m in yearly wages to players who will never, ever play for us again.

if some of them weren't crap enough to be on loan they'd be available for selection, meaning better depth.

speaking of depth, I really hope we keep sagna. I know he had his worst season last year but I wouldn't mind keeping him on and converting him to centerback. He was magnificent when he played there against sunderland. I think he is exactly the kind of senior depth player we need.
