Girma is great, but she has this annoying fvkcing habit of taking all day and all night to take throw-ins.

It seems like she ONLY wants to throw the ball, such that the only play is for the recipient to pass it back to her, so she can punt it aimlessly down the pitch to no one, while pinned against the touch line, and under pressure.

Meanwhile, the longer she takes to take a throw, the tighter the opponent's marking becomes, and then her throw in becomes a turnover within a touch or two.

But the rest of her game? I haven't seen any analysis, but it seems that Hayes is encouraging her to get forward more. In the last game, she almost got a hat trick. That is in addition to her superb defending skills.

Yeah, I respect her game, but MY GOD, take the fvkcing throw, and trust your team mates, rather than taking all fvkcing day and night!

It'll be fun to watch her try to convince conservatives that she's their choice. All anyone who runs against her has to do is use her birth name.

Or point out that she's a woman and do you really trust a temperamental person to be in charge?

We all know the GOP would play that game if she were a serious candidate.

Presidential election time is fun like that, lots of new heads seem to pop in. I think it was 2008 when I discovered this corner of BS.

It’s more like we’re bifurcated between red counties and blue counties. But since the blue counties are far more populous, we’re easily a blue state.

But take a look at somewhere like Shasta County and you’ll see there are places where MAGA reigns supreme.

I have no doubt if Republicans do lose, they will assume it is because they were racist, misogynistic, homophobic and anti-Semitic enough.

Tying together the Selzer poll with what I and other have noted: in many states, the early voting numbers by party are good for Trump, but by gender they’re good for Harris. Anyway, Josh M has a post this morning about a paywalled sub stacker who has delved into the NC data. The substacker, and former Doobie Brothers singer Michael McDonald,* is still predicting Trump wins NC but acknowledges there’s a plausible, alternative scenario where the Selzer effect., I.e., older Republican and independent women breaking for Harris, means a Harris win in NC.

*Not the same guy, just the same name.

    Bocanegra?

Boca split time wide and central, in 4 man back lines and 3 man back lines. IMO for that reason it’s harder to make a direct comparison.

To me, it depends on whether you’re asking who was best at his peak (Pope) or who had more value over his entire career (Boca.)

True. Shasta County is true MAGA. And in the central valley it's not just rural areas but cities like Bakersfield that gave Trump a majority the last two elections. But they can never compete with Los Angeles and the Bay Area. And, even the traditionally conservative OC went for Biden last time.

Maybe the MAGAs will try to defect and form their own state.

I’m kind of surprised to see the DJT stock up 15% today after last week’s significant sell off. If he loses the election, that stock is worthless right?

Well, I've already proven that there are more DCU types around these parts than ARSEnal fans.

That said, Pope isn't the greatest defender this nation has produced, in part because of a shorter peak, as well as having played at a lower level than others.

To your & Mike's point, Bocanegra did accomplish more at both the club and international level than Pope, and did for longer, and these objective measures DO matter, when subjectively rating a player.

But all that said, there's a better defender produced in the US of A than Bocanegra (and by extension, Pope).

Trump will deny that he lost, he'll run again in four years, and as long as he's alive I can't think of anything that could get MAGAs to consider anybody else, regardless of what he does or what he's convicted of. A cultish following is a cultish following.

I don't know. Trump losing to a black woman might cause lots of sore losers to look for a place to go vent. It's an investing gamble, but didn't FOX become a force during the Clinton years?

Yup. I was talking to my mom about this last night, and explained to her that the Torries had a choice to reinvent or go towards UKIP (then explained UKIP). They chose UKIP, and with the current Republican leadership (Trump, Vance, Johnson, Scalice, etc., they were more likely to drift further right.

If we go by Peronism, I fear that the movement he started will survive him, and any demagogue who takes the mantle and can manipulate the MAGAs will be dangerous.

Cultish populism can be unpredictable. Claiming Peron's mantle helped elect demagogues as diverse as Menem and Kirschner, and it inspired rogue groups that were all over the place, like the Marxist Montoneros and Lopez Rega's right wing militias. But in Trump's case, the cult is clearly based on certain prejudices that make its future more predictable.

Let's just hope against hope that it doesn't happen. But I'm afraid the MAGAs will still exist, whether Trump is around or not. It will probably take generations of education and societal evolution to try to deal with the prejudices that are endemic to American society and that woke up the movement that found its champion in Trump.
