And that leaves out the civil liability of fraud and sexual assault (the latter, legally speaking, though some of stated it could be considered rape).
I would say the despair over Trump being possibly re-elected twice was worth it given that it has exposed some of the worst idiots on the Right and basically kept the GOP in the mud for nearly a decade… BUT I cant even f’n say that cause so much unnecessary cruelty, suffering, and actual death has happened as a direct result of these a’holes If Trump is f’n gone will these f’n “richard potatoes” be even more cartoonishly evil, fake normalcy then bite everyone, or do the “moderates” grow a pair and yank the party back towards the center for a reset.. Frankly I would hardly trust any of them unless theres a significant purge of the remaining MAGAts and some of the old lizards If Trump loses whomever is the least crazy on the right will be “moderate”.. not sure what that looks like.. hopefully denying women their abortion rights is something they finally learn to stop messing with.. take the easy win points away from future Dems
I need to go back down to Reno today. Maybe I'll drive through a couple neighborhoods to see what the sign count looks like.
This is also the actual ‘plan’ of the rich lowry and donor class of GOP elites, and according to reporting also GOP congress critters. the theory is Trump loses and they go back to being a hard right post liberal version of themselves. i think you could easily win an election like that.
pfft i for one am looking forward to the extra rake and kickbacks i will be getting as neighbourhood gauleiter.
I said functional recession, not technical recession. Costs of living go up, interest rates go up + income remains the same and wealth (via home equity or stocks) remains the same = you have less money and lose buying power. These people are stretched, which is why they think there is a recession, even though there technically is NOT one. It is a functional recession for them, because they cant afford anything and are losing buying power to cover costs,, maxing out credit cards, etc. They are worked up, because this "great economy" has not worked for them, and they are worse off. This "great" economy benefitted a few near the upper end of the wealth + income brackets. Everyone else lost, because they either don't get raises in income to keep up with record inflation ("Inflation in 2022 hit its highest level in four decades, according to consumer price index data") and/or don't have home equity + stock wealth to make up the difference. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/08/08/cre...inquencies-are-on-the-rise-reports-finds.html I don't understand how this is being written off as a made up talking point when it's been the central issue in this campaign for the duration of this election cycle. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/08/12/59p...nk-the-us-is-in-a-recession-report-finds.html Even a majority of Democrats, who probably aren't voting for Trump, do not rate economic conditions positively. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2024/09/09/economic-ratings-and-concerns/ https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/trump-allies-insist-s-not-nazi-rcna177774 https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-did-kamala-harris-call-donald-trump-hitler-1974174
Luke warm policies indeed! Trump: "We don't have a global warming problem. They don't use that term anymore because as you can see, it's very cool out here today. Oh, they go crazy when I say-- it's not global warming because at certain points it starts to cool a bit, like now." pic.twitter.com/AxQ6ZETR5H— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) November 3, 2024
Trump announces he should have just stayed in office - he just confessed to the coup But sure - the law and order president of course "I shouldn't have left" -- Trump now says he shouldn't have left office on January 20, 2021 pic.twitter.com/RfCKvUS4YA— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) November 3, 2024
In other words, you were dishonestly using a strawman argument as not a single Democrat has called him Hitler. Saying there are parallels to a Nazi rally or saying he is a fascist is not the same as saying he is Hitler. I repeat, the only one who has actually called him "America's Hitler" is JD Vance.
Why make this up? This is not true, and we all know it. Look at the dialogue in this thread with respect to arguably the most likely successor to Trump at this point, JD Vance. In 4 years, when Vance and his equivalent are on the ticket, the same arguments used today against Trump are going to apply to them and anyone who supports them. It'll be a little less toxic without Trump's face everywhere, but we aren't going back to arguing about taxes. That's a fantasy. I've literally responded to all of you, point by point. That activity has not been mutual (the majority of my points in here have been ignored, because they are not easily countered or explained), and yet somehow I am the one who doesn't want a discussion. You can see that discrepancy, it's too obvious to miss, so it's not unintentional. A troll is the only option. And, again: if so, well played. Trump is not a threat to democracy. We've been through 4 years of his administration, and watched him punted out of office once already. None of the threats have come to pass, and none of them will. The biggest threat Trump poses is to the existing political establishment and it's status quo, which is what Kamala Harris represents. What you just said applies to anyone who will vote for Kamala Harris in this election. They will say anything to get elected, and most of their supporters will not question most of it. I've questioned quite a bit of what Trump has said and supported in this thread. Contrary to what you claim here, I do not simply "swallow" all of what he says. That doesn't matter - supporting Trump at all is all people need to know, questioning some aspects of his policy or statements is irrelevant. Nobody here cares about that, and neither do you. You don't need to pretend you do.
No, you haven't. You have not addressed 1/6 nor have you addressed the dozens of people that worked in his administration that have been screaming about his being dangerous. By that metric, it's you that is trolling. Again, not for lack of trying. And given what he knows from round 1, he will put people in place that are loyalists to help make sure he can stay in power regardless of the term limit or any election. Your words say otherwise. If you aren't questioning his constant attempts to undermine democracy by questioning elections or his attempt at stopping the transfer of power on 1/6, his lack of a healthcare plan becomes quite irreverent. His childish "Drill baby drill" bullshit only flies for people that are uneducated about the realities of the world energy resources. His screaming about pets being eaten in Springfield show he is uninterested in the truth about our immigration system, all he needs to do is scare people into agreement. What other policy would you like to discuss? Because all his policies, including his stupid idea to put tariffs at 200% or more, are simply not thought out and only sound good to people that don't know what they are talking about. You are so smug in your opinions yet so wrong, I am not surprised you are a Trump supporter. You are 100% the demographic he covets.
I’m putting this tweet under this post, and y’all can figure out why. ... if you think rape is bad, you will already oppose Trump. If you don't, what could I possibly say to reach you? I don't understand your moral universe, your basic precepts. We are different in a way so fundamental that I literally don't know how to speak to you.— David Roberts (@drvolts) October 31, 2024
I suggested that as a possible explanation for some weird strategic decisions he and his team have been making. The Alberta piece is more about how Trump is just chaos in human form, and that explains a lot of the weird crap too.
The Kennedys all around suck. RFK Sr. got his start with McCarthy, Joe Kennedy and Joe Kennedy Jr. were rather fond of the Nazis (Some of the stuff Jr. said, whoo boy), and JFK was incompetent. RFK Jr being the way he is isn't a surprise once you dig beyond that glamor. Plus, the first 30 seconds of this scene best sums up how a lot of rank and file voters saw the Kennedys then. And people like Truman weren't big fans of them either.
Your posts here remind me of something a college professor of mine once said, that sometimes he comes across a paper so fundamentally wrong in its premise and assumptions that it's almost impossible to know how to critique its details. Basically what I think you're coming up against is that people here (including myself) can't fathom how you can possibly take Trump seriously as a candidate, or for that matter as a well-functioning human being. He is so obviously a creature of low cunning and almost pure id that it should disqualify him for any sort of public service outright. And now that his mind is plainly decaying through some combination of age, exhaustion, drug use, and poor habits, this is even more true than it was 8 years ago (and it was absolutely true then as well). So there are two main options here: 1) You don't see what Trump is, in which case your ability to judge human character is fundamentally impaired, or 2) You do see what Trump is and you don't care because you think his presence will be more personally beneficial to you, in which case your own moral character is inherently suspect. Either way, or even if there's some hybrid between the two, that's why it's hard to address your points seriously, no matter how well written and argued they may be (relatively speaking).
This is like that guy baiting Jason Kelce by calling his brother a f***** for dating Taylor Swift. Recession is a word with a meaning. The English language is not interpretive dance. You don’t get to just make up definitions like it’s a code for your diary.
