Your piece has been torn apart yet you “stand by it”

That’s not how you have a discussion.

Yeah, I saw that too. I have never heard of him being political, at all.

But that heartfelt plea to vote for the candidate who will allow us to keep arguing, to keep competing in the marketplace of ideas, how can you be against that?

I think very few people really are against it. They just don’t believe voting Trump is a threat. After J6 I can’t understand that.

Democrats impeached him and tried to convict him. There were Dem efforts to disqualify him based on the 14th amendment. Dems didn’t vote in Republican primaries.

So just looking at the text in the screenshot, the answer had better be “not a goddamn thing.”

Remember how 2008 made Silver? This Iowa poll has got to be the most famous “poll in a small, non-battleground state” of all time lol.

It’s a different political media environment, that’s for sure.

I swear I hadn’t seen this tweet when I wrote this, but this is kind of what I was thinking of. Selzer is either about to becone a ubiquitous commentator if she wants it, a best selling author, or, a punchline.

Did you see what he's out with tonight? Ban fluoridation. It's like he's a zombie John Bircher. Which is just about the opposite of the Kennedy legacy.

We all lament the death of civics education in this country. Well, it hasn't died in Iowa. Iowans are very civic minded.

I've been in Iowa on that fabled cold, snowy, Caucus night. Iowans take their role as first in the nation very seriously. I get it, Iowans are white and pretty conservative, but they are a different breed from the mainstream MAGAt.

As many know I raged a lot (too much) against the damage Rogan was doing to the foundations of society during Covid, using 100m of spotify investor money. Now we see the results of that crap.

People complain that Dems need to create their own "rogans' but that is not how any of this works. A friend hit youtube in the US with a new device with no personalisation - it's a flood of Brogan and Trump and worse

The platforms have built an audience for his crap

I haven't perceived that change at all. I'm hearing the same language from him re: "my opposition are nasty people and I think i should put them in jail" and the same warnings from his opponents re "trump is Hitler, vote against him to save democracy".

There is no qualitative difference in the rhetoric. I 100% can make that comparison, because I know what I have heard and seen from both sides in each time period. If you want to call that bad faith, that's really your prerogative, I can't stop you. I'm not going to pretend I didn't hear what I've heard or that I see something I don't.

If this is a troll, good job, but if not: there's no way you read through this thread and decided I was the one in need of that advice. About 80% of the posts in here in reply to anything I've written amount to and go no further than some variation of ignoring/memery to "you are human garbage, go **** yourself". The majority of the users in here have straight up stated that no discussion should be had at all with anyone who thinks like I do. That's not a problem, but if teaching folks about "how you have a discussion" is the end game for you, you're starting in the wrong place.

The election is less than 3 days away. Minds are made up and it is what it is.

I will be happy for a Trump win. If Kamala wins, I can put my head down for 4 years and live with it. Either way, life will go on. So yes, I say once again: I said my piece, and I stand by it. I'm at peace with whatever comes to pass this week.

She has openly endorsed bans on handgun ownership. We've had multiple major party nominees support assault weapons bans. She is the first who we have on the record to do that AND ALSO vigorously endorsing similarly strict limits on civilian ownership of handguns. No major party candidate has been as vocally in favor of restrictions on handgun ownership as she has.

I don't base any of this on her race or her gender. I read the amicus brief she endorsed re: Heller, and understand her support at the state level for Proposition H. My conclusion is derived from what she said and what she did, not what she looks like.

This is another irony with some of you who complain about racism/sexism: Everything for you goes straight to race and gender. She's not a politician with a policy or position that can be critiqued. She's just black and a woman - everything goes to that.

It's old, and people see through it.

He's tougher on crime because he does not have a long record of supporting progressive/activist prosecutors, aggressive bail reform, or defunding. She does.

If you owned a home prior to the inflation spike with a low rate, received consistent raises in income, and had a lot of money in the market, then yes, this was a great economy for you.

Most of the rest of us were in a functional recession.

Nobody is pretending. They're being honest about their experience. The Biden/Harris response (and that of most of her ardent supporters) has been to ignore/dismiss said experience, and that of course has not gone over well with them.

My view is very much in line with the majority of Americans (including a major chunk who will not be voting for Trump), so I'm not sure how you're able to justify writing it off as delusional Trumpism, but you're welcome to keep it up.
