What a great message!!! Policies good for errr … some weird family… Trump: "We allowed them to come in and raid and rape our country. 'Oh, he used the word rape.' That's right, I used the word rape. They RAPED our country." pic.twitter.com/u6k4hShz0l— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) October 10, 2024 Trump: "That was the first I really sa- I said, 'who the hell did that?' I saw engines about 3, 4 years ago. These things were coming- cylinders, no wings, no nothing. And they're coming down very slowly landing on a raft in the middle of the ocean some place with a circle. Boom" pic.twitter.com/n8sdBV9w3C— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) October 10, 2024
He took a crap right there… lmao what was that sound? pic.twitter.com/BbuF6XyWL2— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) October 10, 2024
In 2020, Philly was about 11% of the statewide vote total. So the weighted RV screen, with 124 out of 1079 is basically in line with 2020 there. But the LV screen has just 12 respondents from Philly out of 821, or 1.4%! What in the hell is that? pic.twitter.com/zbqRTAMxxQ— Aaron Astor (@AstorAaron) October 10, 2024
Jen Psaki had a good catchup with Jon Favreau yesterday - i like her because she is explains things in a nontechnical way. The people Kamala is targeting will be mostly choosing between voting for her and not voting. They are quite hard to reach. This is why Kamala is flooding the zone now. e.g the big podcast thing - sure it reaches 10m people, but the clips going viral are what really matters. Also this stuff is quite impressionistic. So talking policy on 60 mins has lower importance than voters getting to hear Kamala speak more authentically and informally. It illustrates how much the balance of power shifted in media.
Not getting ahead of ourselves, but if Trump were to get elected, while I’m sure there would be a tidal wave of post-election analysis criticizing her for X, claiming that she should have done Y. All that crap. Thing is, in real time, she’s running what to me looks like a flawless campaign, or as close as one could have expected of anyone. She was granted only about three months to make her case to the American people. And what she’s accomplished in that time has been nothing short of remarkable.
I thought she did a good job on Colbert's show the other night. She showed passion, empathy, kindness, humor, etc. Being on that show was a clear indication of the audience she is going after.
Absolutely! It's remarkable how quick things change when you think about it. In '16 Trump had a real advantage with earned media driven mostly via his twitter. A lot was made of his supposed brilliance on facebook but that was likely bullshit. In the next years Dems built a much better digital operation, and trounced Trump in a covid election In this election, Facebook, Twitter and earned mainstream media seem mostly irrelevant.
Unsure in what way? She only took a small sip, as far as I noticed. That said, she knew how to pop the top of the can. Made that reference to not having had beer since she and Doug were at a baseball game. I'm going out on a limb and hypothesizing that she's not a big beer drinker. Did they expect her to chug it, or that they have issues with her drinking beer at all? In any event, Obama set the standard for me. The guy likes beer and had a smal brewery set up in the White House.
Interesting article about why Harris is doing podcasts rather than "traditional" MSM. (No paywall.) https://wapo.st/3YjgTdj It's because that's where the most undecided voters are. What I find remarkable is the high level of support for Harris among consumers of the NYT et al., whose apparent bias against her is frequently discussed here.
TFNYT is trolling its own readers. We’ve discussed that even more so, but I guess it is just implicit in our jokes now.
This is a brilliant way of going at Trump and reaching a demographic that's hard to reach. I don't know how effective it might be, but if it works, awesome. https://slate.com/life/2024/10/donald-trump-kamala-harris-election-project-2025-ad.html
If you value your emotional well-being, avoid looking at the polls that came out today (eg., the WSJ polls; and looking at the polling averages doesn't help either).
A thing that's amused me about Harris going on podcasts is I've seen some journalists say it's not an actual interview. One journalist on Twitter made a thread with good points but then went into hissy fit mode on Twitter. But the thing is, looking at the questions being asked of Biden, it's just ridiculous. Asking if he's been in touch with Trump, be serious. I can get asking about the misinformation, but nothing about steps being taken for the hurricanes, or what agencies can be contacted for assistance. I watched a bit of the 60 minutes interview for Harris and it was just, bad.
I posted this before but Perlstein has a good article on why he doesn't take polls seriously. Perlstein also wrote this, which is what I saw in the 2012 AL MVP Debate when it was Cabrera vs Trout. The Trout advocates were incredibly arrogant about their stat (WAR) being the greatest. It's also why I'm highly skeptical of stats/data advocates and why I don't trust what data says instantly.
I have respect for Milley...He ia calling it like it is. “Mark Milley, the US Army general who Donald Trump appointed as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, now says the current Republican presidential nominee is a “fascist to the core” and says no person has ever posed more of a danger to the United States than the man who served as the 45th President of the United States,” The Independent reports.
No, it's not like that. You know, you always have to remember that as minorities the rules are always different for us so for a lot of the older black guys they're just really paranoid about little things and how it might be a problem. Young people are thinking it might be more relatable while older people are like this going to be something wrong with this it's going to be considered unladylike or they're going to attack it for being a fake or maybe even unprofessional
