An analog is staring us right in the face: Biden's age. The media seemed fully capable of addressing, even obsessing on, the broad topic of whether Joe Biden was too old to be an effective president for a second term. But it seems not able to talk about whether Trump is too mentally and emotionally unstable to do so. Leaving aside his obvious anti-democratic statements and policies or that he's a convicted felon and was found civilly liable for sexual assault, he can't speak in coherent sentences, he's a serial liar, his public appearances have become increasingly untethered and combative. He rants instead of speaks.

I think it is not accurate to make a broad brush here, in either (any) direction. Sure, we point out a lot of the NYT-type stuff that doesn't call out Trump, and even favors him. But almost every time I check the NYT website*, there is a negative article about Trump. CNN also does a lot of negative articles. And for every non-critical or even favorable article (excluding FoxNews and their cohort), there are plenty of negatives.

On the flip side, though, and where a lot of criticism should come in are the TV people. Yes, there are some who do a good job, but those are few and far between, and seem to be playing more for ratings than news. Now, I'm not sure if that is the expectation of the producers or directors or if that is the expectations of the actual audience. But there is a definite difference with how they address Trump versus print/on-line and podcasts.

    * - I still do think the NYT is too favorable to Trump.

I’ve been saying for ages on here that Trump’s been straight up saying things that should have been ringing alarm bells. That, and I wonder how much his mental health was affected by the assassination attempt. He’s not gonna talk about it because he’s Trump. And he’s not going to get the care either.

I’ve mentioned before I spent a lot of time in nursing homes, Biden may not be youthful or sound vigorous, but the man is in his 80s and he’s out biking. At 81. Not an easy feat at that age. He also mentioned sleeping from midnight to 7 A.M. like damn man.

Every four years I get a wave of media that says "Why can't we all just be cordial?" or "What we need now is mutual respect" or "How to achieve civility" or whatnot. To these arguments, I have but one small response to the pundits. That response is "Go fück yourselves."

Or more precisely, "OK, I will be happy to be civil once Republicans stop nominating people who think that Democrats are shapeshifting pedophiliac lizard people who worship Satan and use a fork to eat pizza."

Talking about the NYT......look at this garbage posted today.....

Kamala Harris Has a Personal Connection to ABC News

“On paper, the potential for a conflict of interest seems obvious: ABC News, the host of next month’s high-stakes presidential debate, falls under the purview of a top corporate executive at Disney who happens to be longtime friends with the Democratic nominee,” the New York Times reports.

That's in Holland, I presume. A lot easier and safer to bike there.

In most US urban areas, you take your life in your hands unless you bike on the sidewalk, which is usually illegal.

Not an activity for 80 year olds.

Bro, that is definitely not in the US of A.....I ride a bike regularly and I have never met anyone from that age group around even leisurely riding. The fact that Biden still does it at 81 is pretty remarkable, and using a sport bike as well.

Ignore function worked too well for you! It was a joke redirect. The gilbertson guy posted some really stupid stuff. I’m convinced the guy posts after he huffs a bunch of paint thinner.

I guess this kinda disproves @Phillyspur ’s argument.

Or Germany. My grandparents rode bikes until they fucking died. Garden, bakery, or just a Sunday ride in the woods - you name it.

They could have done that here.

True, they would have died sooner because some asshat on his phone would have hit them with his SUV, but it’s do-able.
