Unfortunately, Both Pool and Rogan have walked back their statements. Pool said his comment was just a troll and that he still supports Trump, while Rogan said his comment does not represent an endorsement of RFKJ.

I am really interested in what happens next. I mean beyond a Dem victory. The leopards being set loose with no controller will be great.

He is not going to lose, the "election will be stolen from him" we will see if the Republican base continues to buy that.

It is much easier to make these comments when the huge anchor has been removed from the Democrats.

What was the main reason he was losing.. what was the main narrative selling point that the GOP and media were pushing before the debate.. hint it isnt the border

also.. I looked it over and nowhere was it implied that Biden was winning

To expand on what Jitty said, Biden was already behind, and had been behind. Mostly within the margin of error, but it was pretty consistent in every poll. The debate only confirmed what was already seen and showing in the polls, and the polls got worse.

As for the media part, they focus on the drama. That could be the the budget coming down to the wire to prevent a shutdown. It could be the Republicans struggling to be able to elect a speaker. It could be the Democrats pushing to a replace Biden. It could be Trump being associated with Project 2025. But Trump and his rambling and lies and chaos are now normal to the media, and it is no longer dramatic to report on every stupid or crazy or dangerous thing he says.

And then there are the pundits who have to opine. It was fun for them to talk about Biden and his slow, downward spiral. It was, like the reporters look for, drama. Yet this spiral started months before that debate failure. And they did so because Trump had become boring, and the Democrats have been really good at rallying their members when needed.

As for Harris coverage, it will be there until the election. Trump and his attention-seeking behavior, as previously stated, has become boring. Harris is the new, shinny thing to look at. And she is Black, Indian, and a woman. All of those are paradigm altering if she wins. And even if she doesn't. And she is presenting a positive campaign in contrast to the hate that Trump spews - even to the professionals, that is hard to cover day after day after day after day...Harris is a breath of fresh air, and as long as she keeps her campaign positive, she will get more media attention than Trump.

“Yeah, it is a rumor ( that Trump is sick), but I don’t care, do you?

I care very much. Trump has to stay in good health until November, or at least until it is too late to replace him as the GOP candidate. I believe Harris would have a much tougher time against any of the other Republican candidates.

Even against JD Vance? I think she would do well against him, especially as the Republican turnout would suffer.

How would the GOP get a new candidate, given the convention is over? Wouldn't JD just move on up to the top of the ticket? I honestly have no idea how it would work.

As I understand it, the RNC has the option of convening a new convention or making the choice themselves. My guess is DeSantis would be selected, as he is the second choice among MAGAs after Trump. It could be Vance though.

Of course Trump (if he’s still alive) could just anoint someone.

DeathSantis is weirder than Vladimir Futon, so him or whatever MAGAt they choose will be an easy target for the Dems.

If they try a different approach, there aren’t many normies left in the GTP and the few that still exist don’t motivate the base, so it’s difficult to see a path for a different candidate.

Is it possible? Trump is going to drop out due to illness publicly.

Privately, he's going to swap his position for a carte blanche pardon for all his crimes. Somehow include a promise for the new nominee to fight his state charges too?

Some parts of Republican turnout would suffer, but the Never Trump Republicans who would've walked over broken glass to vote for Nikki Haley over Biden would do a lot to make up for that.

The post-Trump electoral calculus is borderline impossible to map out with any real confidence. What does the Republican party even look like? What do the Democrats look like without Trump as a cartoonish foil? There's no way we go back to a 2012 baseline...right?

Adding Biden's team has really improved her campaigning. Credit to Jenn Dillon for taking the social media game seriously hiring a bench of Gen Xs who know how to shade just write. Seems she took Notes from the Jersey girl brought to the white house and Fetterman's team.

GOP are in a no-win situation: stay with Trump and deal with his chaos or dump him and go with somebody else, and lose the Trump cult.

Imagining a Post-Trump world is interesting.. hopefully its a happy one..

I do wonder who the next cult of personality will be.. how have we built up this person so far.. Trump was a long cook.. from the early days of Lifestyle of Rich and Famous, to cameos in everything from Home Alone, Fresh Prince, Wrestlemania etc…. some (including myself) grew up conditioning ourselves to the idea that he represents success, business savvy, and intelligence… Once you take a closer look into what he was really like its easy to see through the illusion.. though most never let go of that built up impression

I wonder who is getting built up the same way.. Elon Musk early on had folks pretty high on him.. he appeared to speak with knowledge about the technologies of his EVs and topics like that… once you engage him on topic most are familiar with you start seeing some of his lunacy creep in.

blaming the media for data that was self evident for a year or more is silly.

the american public decided tong before they did not want a rerun of the 2020 election and that Joe was too old.

the debate simply showed they were correct and the media caught up
