Hearing RNC and even Trump saying they spent all this campaign money on Biden rather that Harris, thus, "refund" is bullshit. From day one, The RNC, GOP and Republicans have been saying, "A vote for Joe is a vote for Harris" because Biden could die any day now just means they are scrambling sooo hard.
The sound of the slap Kamala would hit someone with if they tried to offer her the vice presidency again would be heard around the world.
That would destroy the Democratic Party and hand the election to Trump. I expect the mainstream media to begin pushing this as the only viable option within hours. The fact that it has taken this long to begin the push only indicates that they…like republicans…were unprepared for this outcome.
Looking at the poll thingy at the top of the page, I see that I predicted Harris as the nominee years ago. Sure didn't foresee it happening this way, though.
Most polling is before Biden dropping out. As I recall, my rationale was that Biden would be too old. Which is correct, but doesn't put me up there with Nostradamus.
So Obama still has not endorsed Harris? https://www.threads.net/@politico/p...QGzK1I7tsQX9Naa3iITWeA6fqve_B--ZKpwbHdI3K3leQ
Neither have Pelosi, Schumer and Jeffries.....They are just keeping those for thr grand finale, I guess.
Pelosi did about 10 minutes ago. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4786197-pelosi-endorses-harris-democratic-nominee/
I'm genuinely surprised about how quickly the party has fallen in line. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet. Impressive work from Kamala already.
Maybe it was part of getting Biden to drop out. 1. Biden said if I drop out you have to endorse Harris. (Maybe as a bluff) 2. People said ok.
Maybe that's part of it, but you had some of the people being talked about for 2028 come out with initial statements like "I admire Biden for his courage and look forward to an open process" and then endorse Kamala this morning. Thinking of Pritzker and Beshear, in particular.
It feels like after the last few weeks of doom and gloom there's no taste in the party for more uncertainty and they just want to get all the ducks in a row ASAP and focus on making the case against the damn orange clown. Which I believe is the right thing to do.
After Biden endorsement, followed by the Clinton and Clyburn among others, it would have been a massive risk for any contender to come out and drop their hat into the ring. That could be have been career ending move.
I was thinking about this yesterday, one of the reasons Newson was so in favor of Biden staying is that regardless of Biden winning or losing, it cleared a run for him in 2028 (yes we will have elections in 2028, maybe not fair elections, but we will have some, even Russia holds elections) Now the calculation is a bit more difficult, jumping in in 2024 in tricky, Trump is heavy favorite to win and if you jump in and lose, you may kill your chances for 2028. May as well let Harris run and lose, that way it clears her from the field in 2028. The risk, is that if Harris wins, she will run as an incumbent in 2028, so all their plans would be pushed back to 2032.
Very good thread. Public Service and Joe Biden A Good Man Shows Us All How It's Done https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1815375526682317047.html
Don't discount the fact that Harris has been out there campaigning for months - nobody else has. That's a huge advantage. I think she's a breath of fresh air - everyone hated the idea of a rematch from 2020.
She’s been out campaigning this whole time, and people are acting like she’s either been doing nothing or that she’s immediately grubbing for money the second she is in the drivers seat.
