Cannon hasn't even signed with the Metros. He hasn't really expressed an interest in doing so. As of right now, he is still in the books of RC Lens. Grafer is an awesome back-up. He will do just fine....
All i am saying,is give the pants a chance. With the quality of our D [even with Pope gone for a while] were solid in the back If we give Grafer a chance, and he shows us hes got a bit more in him then we think, all that cap room well have once Timmy leaves sure might come in handy for someone else down the road.
In Bob We Trust Bradley had the same situation with Naperville last season. He had more players gone during the WC and had a few of his non-USMNT players out on injury and that team still got to the playoffs.
who said he signed already? im just throwing the scenario around, would cannon still be a target or would u sign someone else ASAP since we'll have to wait a bit for cannon if he's signed. glad to see some others got the question
I know everyone has the idea that Grafer is a good keeper but what game has he ever played well for us?? The few games I can remember he was awful. Don't blame it on the defense because Howard, Meola and Ammann all played behind bad defenses but managed to look a lot better than Grafer. I honestly think that people think he is good because of the quotes that read from Bradley or other people saying he is good. But obviously the head coach is not going to publicly say a player sucks (with the exception of OZ about Clint).
A couple of people before I posted practically had thought of it as a fact that he had signed... Now, my thoughts on this: since Moreno sucks (and has sucked for us so far) I was thinking maybe, we could ship him off to SJ for the 'rights' to Cannon. But we would end up with a major problem eventually; as Mathis will leave for the Nats, we would end up with Wolyniec and magee to play up front (or Mike Nugent). Now, given they all have talent and some potential, that is true, but since we're playing well anyway, why risk it? So no, Moreno for Cannon is not a good choice. Maybe give Addo for Cannon?
Dude, please don't act with airs of superiority, just because you disagree with my opinion, and you think yours is right. The whole point of forums, and of course of this one, is to express one's opinions in a respectful matter, regardless of what other people think. So IOW, please learn some manners, and the next time you disagree with someone just be like "Well, I've seen him play, and he is just ordinary." The way you said it makes you look so rude and ignorant, bro.
Grafer's did very well in the 2000 playoffs, did not play AT ALL in 2001 except for friendlies (including one half against Bayern Munich where he made a nifty save), and played one game in 2002 which he lost badly (though it wasn't all his fault). He also played an open-cup half against the Virginia Beach Mariners and shut them down, though he wasn't really given a workout. All in all, no one can really make a conclusion on this. Grafer does a good job as a cult favorite backup. He MAY be able to step it up, but there's no real evidence either way. For a team wanting to make a championship run, you had better get someone else.
Very good point on him. Also, I'm hoping, out of all the options, they get Walker. He seems as the likeliest one in my opinion as well.
