So, who would get him (and why)?

(excerpted from AFP report, 14 Feb, datelined Glasgow)

'Argentina veteran Claudio Caniggia has issued an ultimatum to Rangers …

The former World Cup winger has warned he could opt for a move to Major League Soccer in the United States if a new deal is not tabled by the end of March.

Rangers manager Alex McLeish has not ruled out offering the 36-year-old a one-year extension but … he wants to delay a decision until the summer.

But Caniggia insisted that would be too late. "I would like to get my future sorted out by March," he told the Daily Record.

Caniggia recently turned down the chance to finish his career in Saudi Arabia and said a move to the United States would be his favored option if nothing can be worked out with Rangers.

"I still feel well and I believe I can play for another couple of years. I might chose America. I have offers to go over there so I will think about that."'

Maybe Caniggia meant America de Cali or America de Mexico. No Argentinian would refer to USA as
America. We, Latin Americans are taught in school that America is a continent, not a country.

No one, (because he's not good enough anymore for MLS).

we dont need him. He is too old. A veteran of the 1994 world cup. He should be in 37-38 now.

That vetran of the 1990 World Cup, Lubos Kubik did pretty well. 1990 and 1994 World cup starter Tony Meola is an MLS standout and good enough to travel to Korea with the boys. Stoichkov has been a Bulgarian land European egend for as long as those two. Piotr Nowak could easily have played another season or two before bowing out, still at a high level....

Age has nothing to do with it, its talent. If Caniggia has enough talent, I say we should welcome his services.

side note- the mexican guys and girls i work with all say america when referring to this country
