Looking at the clusters. Fortaleza - Recife - Salvador could be one (16 hours driving is a lot) Belo Horizonte - Sao Paulo - Rio the other.
Porto Alegre with 3 Stadiums could be nice, a Qatar style world cup with maybe a trip to Rio / Sao Paulo in between.
I would not put all eggs into the Porto Alegre basket, after reading how recent climate events have ravaged that city.
The tournament will be played from 24 June to 25 July 2027. The direct slot allocation, which accounts for 29 of the 32 slots, will be as follows: AFC: six direct slots CAF: four direct slots Concacaf: four direct slots CONMEBOL: three direct slots, with host country Brazil qualifying automatically and their slot being taken directly from the quota allocated to CONMEBOL OFC: one direct slot UEFA: 11 direct slots The three remaining slots will be decided through a ten-team play-off tournament comprising two phases, with the following slot allocation: Two play-off slots for the AFC Two play-off slots for CAF Two play-off slots for Concacaf (both slots to qualify automatically for the second phase based on sporting performance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ play-off tournament) Two play-off slots for CONMEBOL (top-ranked team according to the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking to qualify automatically for the second phase because of Brazil qualifying as hosts for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027) One play-off slot for the OFC One play-off slot for UEFA (to qualify automatically for the second phase based on sporting performance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 play-off tournament)
CONMEBOL will have new WWC qualifiers tournament for WWC 27 in Brazil. Copa America tourney will no longer be the route to WWC. (it will remain as qualifiers for PanAm Games 2027 and Olympics 2028). New tournament will be played 2025-26 (without the host Brazil). Each team will play 8 matches (4 home, 4 away) The criteria that define which matches will be played at home and which away will still be defined by the CONMEBOL Council. First two teams qualify directly to WWC, third and fourth will qualify for intercontinental play-offs.
Qualified teams: AFC (6): Australia, CAF (4): CONCACAF (4): CONMEBOL (3): Brazil (hosts) OFC (1): UEFA (11): Intercontinental play-offs AFC (2), CAF (2), CONCACAF (2), CONMEBOL (2), OFC (1), UEFA (1)
Alright, we shall see who joins Australia in direct qualifiers. Currently, Japan/Philippines, South Korea/Uzbekistan, and China/Taiwan can join in directly. Otherwise they will be with North Korea for the direct play-in spot. And after that will be IC playoff.
Alright I think Japan will probably take the last QF spot so who do we think between North Korea/Taiwan and Uzbekistan/Philippines will get through? South Korea and China have joined Australia in punching their ticket.
Japan have indeed joined too. I guess, barring upsets, North Korea should win vs Chinese Taipei (heck, they have beaten China and they went close to beating Australia!). Uzbekistan vs Philippines is more open, in my eyes; Uzbekistan are a quite unknown quantity, at this point: they have beaten Bangladesh by 4-0 to earn this quarterfinal, but, come on, Bangladesh are #112 in FIFA rankings, the lowest-ranked team at this Asian Cup. On the other hand, they somehow managed to keep it respectable vs North Korea and China (two losses by 0-3): what can they actually do vs an opponent that's more or less at their level (Philippines #41, Uzbekistan #49)? Philippines should be more solid and experienced (they already played the last World Cup), but they didn't impress me much vs Japan today and had a couple injuries: I have no idea if they were serious injures or if the players were subbed-out mostly to preserve them, but one of them was their captain Haly Long. Bottom line: we're going to see, but this looks like an interesting match.
I think with the Philippines because it is made up of Filipina Americans there's a chance experience in the US could help them and the morale boost 2023 has but anything goes and Uzbekistan making the Women's World Cup on top of making the World Cup would probably be a massive godsend to soccer there and perhaps they become Central Asia's main power and success story. I guess if North Korea returns this would be their first senior tournament in forever (really 15 years) due to a mix of bans and just the government being very isolationist. Taiwan probably will hold them off valiantly but they could end up in the playoff again and depending on how they do they either make their grand return (seriously, they haven't been back since the inaugural tournament in 1991) or have to wait until 2031 when the expansion to 48 comes.

So the Philippines experience paid off, meanwhile North Korea is back in a major tournament. But For North Korea, things have changed dramatically in terms of women's soccer.
It will be interesting to see if the success they have had at youth level since the end of Covid can translate at senior level.
