The Canadian team recently had been in camp preparing for last week's matches, so arranging the friendly at RFK on short notice was not difficult. However, Canada likely will be unable to secure the services of any of its WUSA-based players, who returned to their teams after the South Carolina cancellations. Atlanta has two Canadians on its roster, forward Charmaine Hooper and defender Sharolta Nonen. National federations are required to give 15 days' notice when they wish to call up a player.

"We have not heard from Canada. My understanding is that they might use some of their under-19 players," Beat General Manager Eddie Rockwell said. "We've been practicing with our full team all week. We would probably not be inclined to release them for the [national team] game."

Canada Coach Even Pellerud said he had 12 players as of 5 p.m. yesterday. He said he was hoping the Atlanta pair, already in Washington for the WUSA game, would be available to play for their country for at least one half.

From Soccer America's WUSA Newsletter it seems quite obvious that Charmaine and Sharolta will not be playing for Canada tomorrow.

A little dissapointing for the Canadians, but I'm happy!
