Thanks to the BBC for giving a good pic. Its 11 weeks with the inmates out of the asylum, and a nice "welcome" for those that are coming off vacation. I'll go into more detail as the election goes on.
And the finest group ever assembled. I like the 1st guy as he seems to be having a vision and the 4th guy who's saying, "whut"? You can only hope that your doings are as entertaining as ours. ;

Wow! This all seems kind of sudden. But then, I'm American, and IIRC, you have a much shorter campaign season. I'll be watching with interest, now, as I have family in Van. I might also be going to Vic next year.
CSPAN is showing the Canadian debate at 7 ct. This may be more interesting than the Reps debate. They will sound more intelligent for sure.
I'm just waiting for one of them to call someone an "evil, reptilian kitten-eater from another planet." like some guy did to his opponent a few years ago in Ontario. Now that would be Republican-level wing-nuttery!
Are any of the candidates saying dumb shit? If they are not how am I supposed to pay attention. The whole fun of campaigns is pointing your finger at the dumb one and laughing.
Still on the first page? I expected hundreds of comments by now. Not to mention vicious exchanges and mod threats to ban members. Canada increased the size of the House by about 10%, reflecting population increases: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_federal_electoral_redistribution,_2012 I wish the USA would increase the size of its House, something which has not occurred in a century, resulting in districts averaging about 700,000. Much like the election itself, the opening of polls has snuck up on most of us! It's on! http://globalnews.ca/news/2210001/voting-open-in-federal-election-at-elections-canada-offices/ "offices are open Monday to Friday ..., Saturday ... and Sunday ..." But, evidence that Canada is trying to suppress the vote! "You are required to bring proof of your identity and address."
Do they have a national ID card like Mexico? If Mexico can have a free National ID voter card why can't 1st world countries do it.
http://www.elections.ca/content2.aspx?section=id&document=index&lang=e "Your voter information card is not a piece of ID." Is their ID voter card any better than the Matricula Consular? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrícula_Consular#Security_issues "U.S. law enforcement officials also cite that Matricula Consular cards are issued by Mexican Consulate without checking the authenticity of the applicant's supporting documentation. ... the FBI ... reported that the Matricula Consular card is inherently unreliable and unverifiable as an identification card and is highly vulnerable to fraud, regardless of its security features. The FBI reported that because Mexico lacks a centralized database for their CIDs, they are unable to prevent an individual from receiving multiple CIDs and cannot access information about a CID applicant's identity. ... "Mexican consulates issued CID cards to individuals lacking any proof of identification, as long as they fill out a questionnaire and satisfy the consular official that they are who they claim to be." U.S. Federal and local drug enforcement agents have discovered that numerous non-citizen narcotics traffickers obtain Matricula Consular cards using aliases and that their use in the United States presents the U.S. with a serious criminal threat." In a country as corrupt as Mexico, I can't imagine any ID card unsusceptible to fraud.
I know you're being glib here - but a recent Orwellian named bill was passed to make it more difficult to vote. The cynic in me says it was done to prevent people unlikely to vote Conservative, by removing among other things the ability for a valid elector to vouch for another voter. Edit: Bill C-23 or The Fair Elections Act
Baird was more of a partisan attack dog, to get a Trump-esque figure you'd need to make a love child between Kevin O'Leary and Don Cherry. Thankfully our system doesn't tend to produce rich-guy-runs-for-president scenarios ever.
Ford won't be campaigning for the Conservatives this election either - which is a blow to their hopes in the 6ix.
While 120,000 voters were vouched for previously, some voters will now be able to vouch for their own address, if they have valid ID but no proof of address. Perhaps after the election, someone will compare overall turnout, as well as in areas where high numbers previously utilized vouching.
Hey, some First Nations people are running for office. http://www.economist.com/news/ameri...-could-now-be-swing-voters-electoral-war-path
Its more that the complainers need a "Voting for Dummies" manual given to them. They have a tendency to make things look harder than they actually do.
