yah commonwealth is weird like that .. WHOA Fletcher (US)with a crazy forward flip throw in towards net, and gets a corner kick... nothing comes of it ... SIncliar to Thorlakson, but good US defending by Osbourne
The anouncer just went nuts about the useless technique of a flip throw. Like it was the first time he had ever seen it. No better than a regular long throw and basically usless in this case as well.
Thorlakson goes in deep, and puts it across face of net, canada picks it up and passes towards net, goes through Thorlaksons feet!!!
Min 33 Sinclair puts it upto Thorlakson behind the defenders but just too far... O'Reilly goes other way and good job by Canada DF Andrews , gets a corner and just headed wide on far post
I'm watching the game and I'm stunned that canada especially edmonton who isn't exactly known for supporting pro soccer has 60,000 for an under 19 tournament. If anyone in the know can actually hazard a guess why, I am very curious.
McClod make a very good save and lands hard. She then was recovering and put her head to the ground and I feared that her head spikes might stick in the ground and force her to get called for holding the ball to long.
Edmonton is actually the best locale for national soccer matches, they usally draw the most and is generally the home of most of Canada's games for WC qualifying.. partly because its Canada's only major natural grass stadium too
If you look closly you can see them but they have been well covered for this event. Not like in the US where we dont even try most of the time and paint our fields like clown faces.
Moscato punts it upto Sinclair... 4 us on her, but Sinclair finds Timko, Timko swings it back in front of net but no one there!
I envy you guys (since MLS were use to the ugly football line). Now if you send us these guys to teach these boneheads at Giants stadium, Gillette Stadium, Naperville, etc to paint the football line. 0-0 Halftime.
From what I understand, it it easier to transform a CFL field into a soccer one because of its dimensions 1 min of Injury time and its done ... 0-0 at the break
The Canadian defence has been able to neutralize the powerful US scoring machine for half the game. But it is a game of two halves. The second half will likely be very different, especially as fatigue sets in. Watch for Canada to put three strikers up front, and USA to start finding holes in the Canadian defence.
