Canada at CONCACAF Gold Cup 2015

    The only way I see that working is if those teams have a mandate to field a certain number of Canadian players. I would be interested to see what the CFL sponsored league (the Canadian division of the NASL) would look like.

    They could do that or strike some policy deal that allows them additional development spots for Canadian nationals. At the least any Canadian team will feel market pressures to pursue local talent, so simply having new academies within these markets will yield benefits by default. From there it's simply a matter of maximizing that approach.

    The premise fits the model I mentioned earlier but I'm convinced it won't take root within the NASL, given the league's long-term issues about US membership. We shall see.
