I’m tempted to close the thread but will allow it to wither away to insignificance all on its own. Perhaps like the “Fire Olsen” thread it will rise again like the Phoenix from the ashes. Cheers. Happy El Classico day!
Both Oneil Fisher and Chris Odoi-Astem had to come in as Subs against Miami and didn't stink up the joint. In fact, they improved the play.
I thought that Sorga played with genuine enthusiasm, but I would have been more impressed if he had shown both recklessness & ruthlessness on his two breakaways. But, uh oh, if Kamara is out for the Cincinnati game, we've got no one to back up Sorga at forward.
I liked the combination play that, on a free kick, Quincy bopped over the opposing teams defensive line for a goal scoring smash by one of our guys last fall. But, as long as we're talking retreads, Dom Dwyer or C.J. Sapang may be available if our Brain Trust is willing to wheel and deal. Maybe, we could move out one of our excess d-mids to make the deal work for Orlando or Chicago.
I'm not sure Chicago would deal, but Sapong is, for my money, one of the most underrated forwards in the league. You'd have to think Dwyer is more likely from a team standpoint, but you'd also have to convince his wife to move here.
No, keep "Positive" in the title. That way, whenever something other than negative happens we can all rush to this thread in the hope of sharing a ray of hope in an otherwise bleak reality.
Thanks for making my day. Both my wife and I are in the "high risk of not surviving" group. We all need something positive.
Yeah, I didn't actually want the thread title changed. Was just having some fun with wordplay. And I completely agree that we need a place to share good news. God knows the bad news is damn near overwhelming right now.
We are both 64 and my wife has issues with her immune system. Her rheumatologist confirmed her issues put her at high risk. But, hey, we are staying as positive as we can. Playing cribbage, writing long emails, reading. Yesterday we went out for a drive, up to River Bend Park, just to see more of the early spring. Few people, so we could stay 10 feet away from others.
My wife and I downsized to a DC condo a few months ago. It's pricey and the average owner trends old(er). So it was sweet to get messages sent to all residents by some of the younger owners offering to do their grocery shopping. As I was born early in the FDR era and my wife in Truman's we happily accepted the offer. A very nice, positive gesture in troubling times.
I have a positive thing to say about Parking Panda. Since I signed up for the season parking with them they have automatically refunded my passes for all the games that have been afffected. This was nice as I didn't have to lift a finger. <Back to my moaning...>
The question will be, if those games do get played later in the season, will we be given a chance to buy that same parking at that cost? Or will we be left to fend for ourselves?
Its a good thing, after all, that Garber & The Powers That Be decided to end the regular season on the first Saturday in October. If the league can re-start by the first weekend in June, MLS oughta be able to complete the regular season by the last weekend of November if it squeezes two or three weekend games into weeknight games. My guess is that the White House won't want to shut everything much more than two or three of months because, after two or three months, big banks, big insurance companies & major stock brokerages will start running out of liquidity & start going belly up -- which would mean that Trump would be heading into the Fall campaign season after having led the country into a depression.
