Can we afford a medium-high profile signing?

With the departure of Diallo, retirement of Tab, and Balboa out of contract -- can we afford at least one known medium-level star? And I don't mean Ramon Vega (???)...There are some terrific Uruguayan players that are not being paid on time.

How about a young second-division Spanish player?
They are quality, in a quality league, and would come cheaper than a Brazilian or Argentine.

Well personally, I feel cheap high quality players are what we should be searching for. Names should not be our main goal here.

I was thinking maybe finding a Chilean would be a good idea. That's just my opion though. With Bradley though we know that we will not be going for overpriced, over-the-hill veterans.

    Sebastian Rozental?

Forward, plays in Chile, I think, but had played at one point in Europe before knee injuries sent him home.

    we could use a Chapin

We should at least look at young, up-and-coming Chapines.

Ruiz is currently All-Western Hemisphere, and Freddy Garcia is looking like a tough, skilled little player - even if he is a scrawny git with a silly haircut.

The next Ruiz just may be playing down there right now - and with the success he's had here, don't you think some of his countrymen (and I don't mean the old, broken-down ones) might look to emulate him?

Plus, as any of you who have been to a national team game v. Guatemala, or even to MLS Cup know, Guatemalans do come out to the games. I'm not saying we should buy junk, but if there's a player of the Ruiz/Garcia kind - young, hungry, skilled - then we could do a lot worse that to pick him up.

Yea, I agree completely. Plus, those types of players will eventually be able to earn the team a nice profit if they are ever sold abroad. Either way it is a win win situation.

We establish ourselves as the league of choice for central American players, and have a relationship with european teams. At the same time we can focus on retaining the young American players and growing them in the community.

However, no more overprice has beens. I've had enough of getting these players who just want to come here for the ride. None of that.

I always thought Bradly preferred European players to South American players. His style has always been physical and direct soccer.

I say we get more local talents, or trade for proven talents already in the MLS.

    Somewhere or other
Rozental played for Rangers, I think, but never made the cut.

I think the same can go for Eastern European players.

Obviously, I'm happy that with Bradley we will probably finally switch over to a more Euro based team. But I think it should be a balance.

Amado Guevara, their #8 plays for Saprissa and is either languishing on their bench or is a bit player.

He is a cool character and he was a part of the Honduran team that took us apart at RFK...

... as in who knew from Ruiz before he turned LA into a winner? Only 23 and not exactly a name player when he was signed.

    More like this -- absolutely!
