Since when can VAR review yellow card offenses and issue yellow cards? I thought it was only for Red card offenses. would love to see ARG luck has finally run out after this one.
Rescinding the yellow was justified. Issuing a second yellow for simulation nowhere near the penalty area is not justified, imo, especially when ARG dives just as much without getting yellows.
The rule apparently requires it, which is why it ends up being a farce. Kind of crazy that at age 39 Messi is still Argentina’s best player.

Exactly. If they're gonna start booking guys for diving, then they should be consistent about it. And I'm not saying I'd be against that. I've heard quite a few pundits say that they could cut down/out that form of cheating if they just started booking people for it, with or without VAR's help. And that resonates with me.
