It’s early doors yet (1 of 104 matches played) but I’ll be curious (but not optimistic) to see if there’s any evidence of people unloading tickets for closer to face value within 24–48 hours of KO.
At the end of the day, I'm more interested in the number of fans that were able to afford attending the World Cup on their terms than I am about FIFA's ability (or lack) to sell out arenas across 3 nations. I'm not sure if there are ways to calculate that with data. But hopefully real fans are able to attend and make real memories. Without that, the game itself is what suffers in the long run.
Czechia trying to do their best Arsenal only for South Korea to do their best South Korea in response. I was actually wondering how much national teams would prioritize set pieces in this World Cup.
Czechia had 10 set piece goals in qualifying. Impressive. They nearly had 3 in this game. This ended up being a really fun game. Seeing a Mexican fan rip off his green jersey and swing it around when Korea went up 2-1 was great.
Feels like in most World Cups most teams outside the top 20 run with 2 strategies which is low\mid block and counter, or low\mid block and set piece and that this year it might see a few teams in the top 10 doing that. Everyone is expecting England to do that because of Arsenal but I could see England playing similar to how Bayern did to make use of Kane's talents.
I think England has a real shot at World Cup They seem to be pretty balanced. I like tuchels move to leave foden and Palmer off.
Scoring a header from the 6-yard box off a throw-in is next level. I was truly impressed by that. South Korea were fun to watch. They kept a really dynamic high line in defense, and they repeatedly found runs and movements to break down Chechnya’s in their attacks.
Thomas Partey denied entry into Canada for being a rapist. Will not be able to play for Ghana next week https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/73...unlocked_article_code=1.plA.Yl-C.6bev7YISvTgH
This chance by Noni was supposedly 0.96 xG. Yikes! https://youtube.com/shorts/3xb7G6NolI0?si=rBm3aEMIHSP7iD5H
Interesting. I’m not aware that he’s been convicted of anything yet. So this seems to go slightly against a “innocent until proven guilty” stance. Not that I’m defending him or any prior behavior of his. There’s been a bit too much smoke around him, for him to be an angel methinks.
They have strict entry rules. A DUI, even if expunged, can get you permanently banned from entering Canada.
Lando with a whole new do. But is it a rug or plugs or transplant? Definitely makes him look 10 years younger however! Maybe I should copy him?
Like the new VAR rule that removed a yellow card by Tim Ream and correctly gave a yellow to Amorim for a dive.
When I saw him post about getting the toupee on Insta I thought it was a bit. Good for him if it helps his confidence but…
Apparently his prominent WC commentator gig induced him to do it. Clint made fun of him a little, but it kinda takes guts to do that. Maybe as much guts as shaving your head for the first time, which I still haven't quite worked up the guts for yet. No toupee for me!
