The Brasilian season it seems that they have so many tournies and cups When do they play their league games? When are the state championships etc etc I've always wondered and never understood it fully Thanks
State Championships: Mid January to Beginning of May Copa do Brasil: Mid February to July National league: Mid May (it stats THIS saturday) to Beginning of December Of course there is the Libertadores and other tournaments as well.
And to add to what Mengao86 said, Brazil does not follow the European calendar. Argentina and other Latin American countries do, with 2 premierships per year (apertura and clausura). The Copa do Brasil is pretty much Brazil's version of the FA Cup, Copa del Rey, etc. It's considered the 'easiest' way to get to the Libertadores (winner gets a spot).
Libertadores teams also don't play in the Copa do Brasil. For example, Flamengo, São Paulo, Santos, Internacional, Paraná and Grêmio aren't competing in this year's edition.
Top 5 + Cup winner. The bottom 2 of the top 5 play in the Pre-Libertadores. This year Santos and Paraná played in the pre-Libertadores..
is goltv going to show the league games this season, i am looking at there schedule and they have no games from the Brasilian league lined up
Mengão... is top 4 + cup winner. Last year was top 5 couz Inter has entered as the last year champion in libertadores. best regards!
