46004 The numbers are reflecting what quality the coach is: https://nos.nl/artikel/2540879-diep...pijn-aan-de-ogen-maar-er-is-ook-sprankje-hoop The defeat against the Germans (1-0) is not good for the points average of the Orange under Ronald Koeman, just like the draw against Hungary (1-1) last Friday. "That's starting to get a bit worrisome," says Frouws. "The points average is 1.75 per game in the second period under Koeman, which is even lower than under his predecessor Frank de Boer." Under De Boer, the Dutch picked up 1.87 points per game. Under Louis van Gaal, it was 2.4.
Well that’s what I mentioned earlier how the conveyer belts rolls. Hato and now talyor. There better players then them in eredivisie and abroad. With Ake back let’s see where the chops come in
The next match v. Hungary is in mid-November… about three weeks from today. I wonder if Frankie de Jong could sneak into the final squad… plenty of time for him to build up his fitness and rhythm. Even if he’s only playing half-matches for Oranje (like today when he played for Barca in a high-intensity match v. RM), that’d be still better than none! The creative midfield options are so thin with Xavi, Koopmieners, Veerman, Schouten are all out.
Koopmeiners played full match for Juve today… also played some 20 minutes last week, which was his first appearance since early October. He wasn’t in the provisional squad (like Frenkie), but with some playing minutes, unless there’s any setback, I think both Koopmeiners and de Jong should be included in the final squad for Oranje matches in mid-November. BTW… Xavi Simons is done for this calendar year. Underwent surgery, and will be out until early 2025 at the earliest
Watched liverpool and aston villa and maatsen even with 15 minute cameo brings a different level energy to the game. Its a saddening to see him not selected. Once again politics at its best with hato selection over him. This is why the Dutch NT are not prospering and other teams are. The very reason. What has hato and rensch done to deserve a call up. Just because they are starters at ajax. I really dont understand this presupposition that if ajax is doing good the dutch ajax players shud get the nod. What happened to veltman and tete now. They are starters at brighton and fulham with both teams doing very well. That twente RB van Rooij is a better than rensch and again no twente players whom are doing well on european stage. Its just not gonna happen with this typical coaches who cannot invest in the right players.
Gulp… Frenkie de Jong only lasted 45 minutes today. Subbed off at halftime due to injury. Not sure yet the extent of his injury but given recent history, it’d be a high probability (and smart) if he skipped the upcoming Oranje games.
Clearly there are concerns about certain players being selected, but there are quite a few injuries that are causing Koeman some problems. With regards to Maatsen he does not start, and has not made any significant progress since moving to Aston Villa those are the facts it’s that simple. For the record I like Maatsen, but he’s very raw, and doesn’t play enough currently to be included in Koeman’s Oranje. You mention Hato, but he plays often at Ajax like him or not, and he generally plays well that’s why he’s picked. He’s also a very highly rated young player so there you have it. Rensch has shown some improvement even though I don’t like him, and I agree Kenny Tete would be a better choice, but Rensch is also Captain of the U21 which I’m sure is another factor that favors him. You mention Twente, but they are really a very inexperienced group playing with little experience in Europe at this time. There’s really not too much problem with the current selection to be honest. Oranje are not prospering you say (which is wrong) because Maatsen is not selected? His time will come at some point if and when he supplants Lucas Digne at Villa.
After test today, apparently it was only a knock on his shin. De Jong is cleared, and will be joining the Oranje camp. A few minutes of him would be a tremendous (moral) boost both to him and the team — but I don’t think he will be needed to go full time, given the other midfielder options.
I hope Frenkie starts both games, because he's had such a long layoff and he really needs playing time
Ádám Szalai has left the stadium on a stretcher. We don't know what happened to Hungary's assistant coach, but based on the reaction something very very bad... The match was suspended until Szalai could leave on a stretcher. The commentator said he looked like he was awake.— AA (@A11Aron) November 16, 2024
I’m not sure yet about Frenkie and Reijnders together… Dumfries is Dumfries, clutch. Almost everyone did well today but I really liked the spark provided by Frimpong and Lang. Lang has that Neymar esque style of play, it’s risky dangerous intriguing but very very lively.
Beginning was shaky with sloppy ball loss and not being tighter defensively. Van Hecke is slow and not great on the ball was dared to play by Hungary who allowed him to possess. Frenkie is great on the ball playing between the lines and he helps raise the tempo with more active proactive running off the ball and faster possession, but he wants zero part of defensive play and absolutely nothing to do with getting stuck in with a tackle. I know he’s recovering from a bad injury but if you are going to play in the middle or anywhere for that matter you must defend. Weghorst a waste with his slow feet and almost gets in the way is so annoying and shame on Koeman for playing him the entire match instead of working on developing Brobbey who brings much more dynamic attacking ability, and let’s see him with this type of dynamic play around him. Gakpo and Malen were lively but then Lang and Frimpong even more skill, pace, and direct danger with their running at the defense who never enjoy these actions. Great volley by Dumfries who was his athletic self with hard running. Reijnders and Gravenberch both very effective running and distributing in the excellent Oranje Midfield tonight. Koopmeiners top class player with a great header and volley needs to get on the ball more with his excellent playmaking skills. Great night but always some questions and concerns at times.
