Geerfrauda cancelled offside numerous times in the final four of the Nations League. It was awful and it cost us. He has been bumped ahead of many others playing at higher levels. Even Doekhi has played at higher levels!
Uhm, you forget the results now have an impact on your qualification run for the Worldcup (and when due the EURO too), so that mantra of glorified friendlies is a bygone for some time now, but still that mantra is being tossed in.
Did he? He started out with dumb selections which were forcefully improved by injuries. One of our biggest problem the past Euro’s was Depay and he kept selecting him over and over and made excuses for him all Euro long. That’s all a seperate argument though and has nothing to do with the FACT that we had the MUCH easier route than the squads on the other side of the bracket. If you’re honest with yourself you’d admit that had we been on the other side of the bracket it is VERY likely that we would have crashed out earlier. The truth can be a bitter pill to swallow.
Agreed on the lucky side of the bracket, but Koeman was hoping Depay would turn it around and find his form, but that never happened. His other options wouldve been the untested Brobbey/Zirkzee and that would have been very risky to put them into a high pressure tournament like that. BTW didnt you also say 3 years ago that Danjuma would be a starter for Oranje by now??

Furthermore, there’s no way you can argue that Zirkzee/Brobbey could have done worse than Depay as he did close to nothing good with a few exceptions. As for the argument about Danjuma, once more you ignore certain facts. Number one, injuries certainly played a role in the consistency he needed to become a starter for the NT. Secondly, I never said that explicitly without any context like for example ‘with his talent, he’ll surely become a starter’ or ‘if he keeps this up, he’ll surely become a starter’ or something to that effect as I’m not one to speak in absolutes, especially without context. Can you provide the post(s) in question?

The alternative wouldve been to start Brobbey or Zirkzee, and if they had shit the bed in a high pressure tournament you risk ruining their confidence. Young players like them need to be brought into Oranje slowly like Koeman is doing now I clearly remember you saying Danjuma needed to be selected for Oranje based on his performance in 2nd tier English football (Bournemouth), to which I said he plays against terrible opposition in Championship L. football and needs to be tested against better defenders in the top leagues. You certainly made the case in your posts that Danjuma should be selected. I disagreed with that, and I still disagree with that. Danjuma couldnt cut it for Spurs, got loaned out to Everton, couldnt cut it there, and is now loaned out to Girona where he has only played 1 game so far. Look dude, you clearly said Danjuma would become an Oranje player at some point. I said he wouldnt. I was right, you were wrong. Right now Danjuma has Malen, Simons, Gakpo, Frimpong, Kluivert and probably Lang ahead of him. Sometimes its just best to admit you're wrong and take the L. I'm not gonna argue this any further.
