As we all know, all matches are broadcast in Spanish on WADO or WQBU radio. Are there any rumblings about actually having the games broadcasted in English any time soon? I'm surpirsed that there still isn't an MLS Radio Show on XM or Sirius. Has anyone heard any news on this?
My advise is that u watch all games on TV. If you drive or work during game times, i guess is too bad for now. Good luck
Are you Sisco!!!! Are you Sisco!!!!!! Arrrrrreeeeeee you Sisco in disguise!!!!!!! (um, as of right now, there still is no english radio broadcoast of Red Bull soccer)
I remember a couple years ago there was a game against the Crew not televised and I listened to the radion in spanish. All I understood was the announcer screaming goal, but I couldn't even understand wich team scored. I had to wait until he said the score at halftime to find out if we were even winning! But yeah, I don't understand how there aren't any games on the radio in english.
Someone who thinks an English Radio contract will equal at least 20,000 more fans in the seats. It was one of the more comical moments of a town hall at Nevada's during Lalas' tenure and back on topic - at least for AM/FM radio - they will get a contract when the market dictates a contract is feasible. OTOH, they should have an English radio broadcast online off of their own site. I can't see that being expensive at all
You're in America dammit......learn how to speak Spanish! There simply isn't sufficient interest to warrant the games to be covered in English on radio. For a few months they did have a talk show every Sunday night years ago, but they would always have some wackos who would call in with some Howard Stern-type crank calls. The idea of listening to games from their website should have happened long ago. Some USL teams have it, so why not an MLS team? A great way for those looking to get their feet wet in the broadcasting business.
I'd love to know what RBNY thinks the English-language broadcasting rights are worth. Put them on anything and see what happens.
If you acquire the rights from the Red Bulls and start your own broadcast of the games, you'll be able to get games on radio in English.
I would be shocked if RBNY could SELL radio rights in either English or Spanish. My guess is that RBNY BUYS the WADO airtime and keeps whatever advertising revenue it generates.
How about a live internet audio stream for home games? It's not terribly hard to do. All you need is someone to call the game from the stadium and a laptop (with a datacard and an icecast/shoutcast client). Then stream to either an icecast or shoutcast server. Depending on the amount of listeners you'd need to add additional icecast servers to mirror the stream off the main one. Obviously you'd have to get permission from the Red Bulls. How hard would it be to get press passes for the people calling the game at the stadium? It's pretty sad that the Red Bull organization wouldn't look to do this themselves. The cost of doing it over the internet is relatively cheap compared to broadcast radio.
This would be great. I especially would like coverage for any New York away games that are not on MSG or ESPN2.
They should consider getting the games to be listened to somehow. I remember last year when the Red Bulls played the LA Galaxy in the US Open Cup (JPA's first game) there was no way to follow the game other than the Game Tracker on Ives. That's totally unacceptable. Not sure how many people enjoy following games on Match Trackers but I would match rather listen to or watch the games personally. There shouldn't be one game that the Red Bulls play that isn't available on television or radio. This may be a little bit away but it shouldn't be. Allow the fans to follow the games.
