red card - "Any player receiving a red card in an MLS regular season game will be suspended for the next league season game and shall pay a fine of $250. Any player receiving a red card in a preseason or exhibition game may be suspended for the next exhibition game and not the next regular season game. Any player who receives a second red card during the season will be suspended for one game and shall pay a fine of $500. Any player who receives a third red card during the season will be suspended for one game, pay a fine of $1000, and may receive additional sanctions by the Commissioner.

Players, who receive a second yellow card in a game, and thus a red card, will have the appropriate penalty points of the first yellow card only applied to their point totals."

It is my understanding that some leagues (EPL) and competitions allow you to play pending an appeal. Obviously MLS does not and DiGi will not play this Sat. But does fifa address this issue, or just leaves it up to the leagues?

One would think that a person named Red Card would have the answers to Red Card-related issues.

Except when it comes to the fluid rules of MLS.

It seems that in MLS getting a double yellow and therefore a red, has a bigger penalty than getting a direct red. In a double yellow, the offender collects points for the first yellow, but does not collect points for the second yellow because yellow transforms to a red. On the other hand, the offender who gets a direct red, does not collect any points. These points eventually lead to a suspension such as the one Pable Mastroeni had vs the Metros.

The bottom line is that Digi's double yellow not only caused suspended for the next game, but also collected points towards an eventual second suspension.

I was thinking the same thing.
I guess Arena already chose his dyed-blond defender for the match, Petke.
