Any reason why Jim Curtain has not had a chance at the Nats?

I think that he has earned a chance. Does anybody agree with me or am I just as crazy as Crutain's fro?

The game Vs. Jamaica would have been a good opportunity for the Bruce to have a look.

Can't he get his priorities straight! He doesn't deserve to wear the US uniform (whichever version)... ;)

Too slow and not as good as the defenders that are available? It's just a hunch.

2 years ago, I would've said yes...now...no. He's lost his edge. The guy is just big and sticks his leg out, not as much of a physical presence in the back anymore, in my opinion. He's too much of a liability against fast forwards...

Yeah I can agree with that. 2 year ago, even last year he coulda been a contenda.

I haven't watched much of the Fire this year but he really didn't have a stand out season.

Too bad that he is getting old. I liked the intimidation factor of the big boys in the backline vs. Jamaica.

He's a very good positional defender and distributor and his size makes him good defensively on set pieces.

His speed and open field defense probably aren't International caliber.

But he is a very solid guy, and for right now, I would put him in before Oneywu if I really needed a 90 minute center back in an important international game.

OLD? I think you're misguided, sir. Let's assume for a minute that Curtin was in college all four years, and is now entering his ~4th season in MLS [Yes, I KNOW I could look it up, but I'm too lazy]:

That would put Curtin in the 25 - 28 range. Hardly old, by any measure.

Now, one may state that Curtin is too slow or not talented enough to be included, and that can be debated. SARCASM=[Given the "lightning speed" of Agoos in Korea, the "blur" that is Califf, and the "class" of Regis in Korea, one may argue that neither speed nor talent matter in the defense.]

But OLD? I don't think so...
